Is this tailgate gap normal?

Been noticing this for a while as I've been driving my truck a fair bit. Is this amount of gap normal? I have installed a bit of tailgate seal gasket thing to keep dust out, but this seems extreme?

That doesn't look too abnormal from the outside

 

Do you have s RTT or heavily load your cap rack ?

No RTT. Cap is leer 100xr, never had anything on it

 

I see what I think OZ is getting at; the cap is pressing down on the tailgate on both sides.

 

With a heavily loaded cap the bedsides can spread at the tailgate because they aren't restrained like the front

 

Hrm. Shouldn't be considered heavily loaded as I don't have a rack on it and have never put anything on top (or hung from the inside).

When I take it in for my next service I'll compare it to other '14s on the lot. A little unimpressed if the cap did this considering the truck doesn't even have 10k miles on it and the cap was part of the financing on it.
