That’s where I identified mine. Haven’t finished gathering parts yet, probably spring when I put my fogs in.

 

Got the harness ordered, stalk assembly replaced. All I need now is the relay and the lights themselves. Haven't decided yet which ones I want. Any tips and/or recommendations much appreciated.

 

I got the 55W OEM fog lights in marketplace here at a great price, like new, keep an eye out there if you want OEM fogs. I want Halogens so went OEM. Far cheaper that way. Pretty sure my SR isn’t pre-wired (forgot to check when I replaced my washer stalk with an intermittent stalk) so will buy a switch, harness, covers, and use Nitori’s wiring method.

 

Mine is pre wired so I'm assuming I can end up with a factory install with everything working like it does on one that came from the factory with them. Just need to sort out whether I need to go OEM or if after market makes more sense. Thinking maybe going with the bogus Rigids from Alibaba.

@Rottencotton, I'm hoping you can remember that far back...
Did you end up getting to use the factory installed wire harness (behind your grill) for the fog lights? Did it all power-up properly, show an icon on the dash, and work with the new stalk you installed?
What brand of lights did you get?

 

As I recall, I had to buy the harnass that ran to the fogs. It plugged into a plug that was already installed in the truck. It was located about centered in front of the radiator. Think I also had to buy a relay. They worked flawlessly and have ever since including the light on the dash. I was lucky to find the full stalk assembly on eBay. If I hadn't I would not have bothered with the fogs, but as it turned out I go both the fogs and intermittent wipers. I got the fog light assemblies including bulbs from member here. They're OEM. Might upgrade sometime in the future.

I saw that plug in my truck, but didn't have the stalk. I expected the power box (under the hood) would not be complete (as in no relay, no fuse, no wires, etc.) so I didn't go that route.
But now it is nice to know that I can use that existing harness (for something else) with very little other work. Light bar maybe. Of course I'd have to reconfigure a switch in there since I still don't have the stalk.

 

Thank you and understood but a lot of the part numbers that are for the 3rd gen will work on the 2nd gen, like the intermittent wipers, fog harness, etc. I just need the part number of the harness that goes from the relay to the fog harness. Thanks

 

There is no provision to install the 3rd Gen harness to relay on a 2nd Gen because it's part of the 3rd gen engine harness, not a separate one.

 

I run Hella yellow halogen bulbs in my stock fogs, nice cheap upgrade.

 

The light stalk is part of the whole assembly whereas the wiper stalk can be replaced without pulling the steering wheel but to be honest, pulling and re installing the steering wheel turned out to super easy. I felt kinda stupid for sweating it beforehand.

I did install cruise control. Had to pull the airbag for that, so yeah if that was the worst part then no worries.
I used to pull the steering wheel often (well, not often, but more than a couple of times) in my past vehicles without airbags. So I have no issues with doing that part either.

I went the other route simply because I installed a whole 'nother electrical system that I could isolate in case of problems. I still use the truck battery (and of course the alternator feeding the battery) but every electrical item I've installed is on a separate buss bar with it's own fuse, relay, & wires*. Just as others have done, my work can be completely shut-off from the truck system via a circuit breaker.
I figured that if something went wrong with the ecu or such, and the dealer tried to say "it was your ditch lights that caused the 4Lo to fail", then I could just take my work out of the equation and nullify his argument.

*I did instal the CC and it is all wired into the truck electrics. It is the one thing elec that I did which is not part of my "'nother electrical system".

 

I bought a set of steering wheel puller and didn't need them. Wheel came right off with a gentle tug.
