    Technically I'm not sure that this classifies as the 3rd gen. they did change the front end of the 1st gens mid way.

    Not really surprised considering how long Toyota took to redesign their pickup originally. The pre-tacomas were pretty damn close in design to 1st gen tacomas. Luckily they got rid of torsion bars and the 3.slow. But I wouldn't expect anything ground breaking any time soon. The current recipe seems to be working just fine for them. I see new Tacomas running around with dealer tags nearly every day in my small town.
