And quite commonly in a original frame from that era you'll find the rear passenger frame rail rotting from the inside out. So you may not see anything on the outside but even a garage queen perfect truck can have a rusted frame rail internally.

That's even more ridiculous if looking at a dealer

Can't even put a price on yours, no scale can measure that amount of crap

a dealership couldn't even price your mom; the last time somebody sold a piece of land that big, they found oil deposits

Lived in Maryland for 32 years, and cars rusted there badly. The only place worse I lived was NW Pennsylvania. The Ziebart franchise guy probably had a personal jet, given the business he did. Moved to New Mexico, and paint fade is a thing, but rust isn’t. Back in a valley near me there’s a 1959 DeSoto on blocks with original paint, and no rust. I recently got a 2013 Tacoma and the frame is immaculate, but just a bit of fade on the roof.

As mentioned, hammer test is required for that frame, from these pics it appears to be mostly surface rust and is not beyond saving but needs attention right away. Honestly I paid more than that for mine in 2018 from a used dealer but is almost rust free and a manual tranny (I don't see a clutch master so presuming it's an auto.) When I bought mine I just knew it was the truck I wanted, so yeah I hella overpaid for it, no one can decide that for you.

The little clues: The missing dirt guard in the wheel well and if you're selling a truck you at least clean up the engine bay. If someone's not doing that, they're probably doing maintenance only when needed so you're probably going to look at some long overdue maintenance on this 20 year old truck, which likely includes suspension refresh, shocks, definitely new lower ball joints, other wear items and OMG put a stop to that rust before it's too late.

If you're down for all that I'd use these points in a discussion to bring the price down, go with your gut.

You don't fly to a rust belt state to buy a daily driven vehicle.
