The sas can either be a deal maker or breaker. It's expensive to do right, more expensive to redo a bad one. And unless you have the need of a solid axle it shouldn't be a positive factor. I personally wouldn't pay for the world's most comfortable tampon. It may be awesome, but i have no use for it.

and it does look like the lowest sas ive seen.

You having a 2nd gen changes my gut answer. Do yourself a favor. Sleep on it. Then when the testosterone is not coursing through your veins, take that 5500 and pay off debt and build your current Tacoma.

LOL why are you thinking of buying the worlds most comfortable Tampon..lol. :p .

But in all seriousness. if you pay off your truck sooner you wont have a loan payment and you can mod your truck, instead of having two trucks and no mods on either..

Wish he had more info on it. I really like it but don't want to get into a huge project. I think I just have a soft spot for clean older cars. Even if its a civic if its over 20 years old but still looks brand new I give the owner props. I might just put 5500 on the newer truck.

That's not a ton of rust... my 2007 looked much worse than that when I traded it in last year

If you like off roading, having a second rig would be really nice over beating up your daily driver. The solid axle would be the big question mark in my book. Why would you spend the time and money dropping a solid axle in it, then keep it low and stock looking. I would wonder if it was either in an accident that wrecked the front end or it's had major body work to cover up off road damage.

Ya also stumps me why its so low. It still looks good but still not 100% sold on it. I use to wheel a lot but lately have not since I sold my jeep and my 2nd gen is bone stock.

Looks like the leaf springs are shot, shock absorbers are probably also shot. It's not that hard of a fix I just did it to an 84 I bought. If you are mechanically inclined it's not hard could use that to drive down the price.

I would be patient and keep looking.

It's really low due to the leafs springs and shocks being done for. If you replace that it will go back up in height.

Maybe it's just me but didn't all the 92s come with the 22re? I can't remember off the top of my head. Bit strange seeing a regular 22r in there.

Ok. here's my thoughts in locking at the pics. Without seeing the front end of the springs it looks like the SAS was done pretty well using stock parts. Those front shackles are stock height shackles and having the top of the shackle through the frame is the preferred method so that's good. The front axle is a stock Toyota front axle from a pre '85 truck. Most likely the axle is an '85 because the lower axle truss on the bottom of the axle looks to be the longer one. Hard to tell for sure.

Here's a '85 front axle. You can see the lower truss runs out almost to the driverside knuckle.

Here's an earlier axle with the shorter truss that ends before the ubolts.

It's not a big deal which one is on the truck though. I'd be more curious about the steering setup. If it using the the older style steering with the J arm from the earlier trucks, I'd have that on the list of things to change and move to a real hysteer setup. Those old J arms are prone to breaking. My guess is that is what is on the truck since the tie rod is under the springs and you can't see the drag link. A hysteer setup will be like the pics I posted and the tierod and draglink will both be above the axle.

Looks like it's using stock Toyota leaf springs that are worn out. That explains why it's basically at stock ride height. The rust all looks like surface rust to me and could easily be cleaned up so I wouldn't be worried about it.

If I hadn't just bought my new land cruiser I'd be all over buying this thing. I think the price seems fair too. These were available with the 22RE 4cyl or the 3VZ V6. There is not a big difference in power and the V6 was notorious for bad head gaskets so the 22RE is the better motor for sure IMO.

Again, for the OP, if I were you I'd buy it for sure.

I really feel that's a steal for that truck with that mileage with a solid front axle. That is just surface rust. You could throw a 2 grand after that (wheels tires and work the suspension a little) and you will have a very capable little truck in good condition. If that was close to me I would buy it in heartbeat.
