I may try to go the TSB route, but honestly for around $80-$100 I'd rather just do it myself and not deal with them. Also I leave on a 2500 mile trip to Alaska in 3 weeks so I need it done pretty soon. Also thank you for the aytime fogligt mod. i went the stealth option, but it was your thread that started it all!

if you do it yourself getting the CV out is a pain if you dont pay attention. The inner cup will have 6 spots where you can pry from, the CV is held in with a C clip that must get compressed by the inner diff spider gears tapered edge. What you need to do is get the opening of that C clip facing down, this allows the end of the C clip to compress much easier.

SO method would be to push the CV IN to the diff, taking pressure off the c clip and allowing it to settle down as far as it can, a little tap on the cup after its been pushed in helps to settle the clip. Then attempt to pry out. If it does not work (it actually does not take much effort to pry out), Spin 1/6th of a turn, push in, tap to settle the c clip, and try again. Next thing you know it will pop right out.

Took me a smaller pry bar and the right sized piece of metal to put the pry bar against to properly put pressure on the CV so i wasnt going to ruin the slinger ring that goes against the seal. Once i figured out this method it was like 1 min to have the CV out.

So it's confirmed needle bearing after driving and putting into 4h. Noise went away instantly. In other news I'll have a removal and replacement tool for sale in about two weeks haha. Thanks everyone!

Yeah, Winkel did a brief write up on this very thing not too long ago. I think it was titled "East Coast Gear Supply freakin' rocks!"

    Wait, that's me.......

Put the new bushing in and you'll be good to go. Crawl under your truck and wiggle each axle shaft right were it comes out of the front diff. The looser of the two will be the problem one.

Found it, thanks for the info. I'll probably just disassemble all of it, but I'll leave that decision for install time to see what I'm up against.

Ok so I understand how to get the CV axle out, but what all fluids are involved in this change? I read somewhere to put some grease back in the connection of CV axle to the differential. Any specific grease? Also it said to fill up the differential fluid. Any specific fluid and how do I know it's full? Sorry I'm new to mechanical things like this. @nd4spdbh @winkel

I didn't put no grease but to check your diff fluid some where on the site they have pics where to take the filler out at and what you do is stick your pinky inside side if you cant any fluid on your pinky then it needs some fluids or u can just top it off.
