2wd. Live in Columbia,SC and don't need a 4WD. I used to have a 82 CJ7 jeep and never needed the 4wd. I just found a good deal. If it would have came with 4wd I would have bought it. I'm Just happy to have a Taco.

My current taco is 4wd but the '06 was a 2wd, when I was growing up we had an old ford that was a gas guzzling 4wd if we ever needed one and didn't see the need in our daily drivers being 4wd. Now I'm living away from home so 4wd DD it is.

So, today I saw a PreRunner with a TRD Off Road decal.

Does such an animal exist? Is it a 2WD with a rear locker? :notsure:

I have a 4 X 2. I live in the city & it rarely snows here, so why lug around 415 pounds of useless metal?

Been driving a long time (40 + years) and have never have encountered a situation where I actually "needed" 4WD ... so I have never owned one. For my situation and driving needs it's just more weight and more parts that can break.

2 wheel for me. I had a Chevy pickup with 4 wheel and barely used it except in snow. Here in MA we had a bad blizzard in February, 2 plus ft of snow. I took my truck out that day and drove for about 3 hours with not one issue of losing traction.

Worst case I'll just buy 150 pounds of pool sand in the winter, by the time snow is gone I'll need it for my pool filter.

I wanted a 4wd, but when I found my little 2wd Taco on Craigslist for $250, I couldn't pass it up.

I'd just like to see the "black box" recording of your truck lol. I guess they weren't putting them on them back then though.

Don't remember when they started putting in the black boxes in vehicles but my last 2 Tacoma's have had them. Basically covering Toyota's ass.

when did Tacomas become Airplanes or school bus' ....

Are you sure this wasnt a device that some car dealers put in to make sure you cant get the vehicle, then never pay and hide from repo... Our local ford dealership does this and can deactivate the vehicle if payment isnt made..

Anywho i have a Prerunner because i got a hell of a deal.. one day i will own a 4x4 again but for now ill have to prerunner it...

They are required by law to tell you about it. They have been on the last 5-6 cars that I have owned.
