You may be right but I know that in Vermont, and I suspect the rest of the snow belt, most Tacos are 4wd.

Yeah. I grew up/live in Idaho and I didn't even no 2wd pickups existed until I was in College. They are just unheard of around here because they are so sketchy on icy roads. Hell RWD cars are for that matter too.

What is this SNOW stuff you speak of? Whatever it is, I'm sure northern California doesn't get any.

    2WD is all I need.

Exactly. If I was in your shoes I would buy the 2wd as well. If you don't see snow, and pretty much never leave the pavement why spend the extra money for the 4wd.

In my case I only use my Taco for offroading and when I am out before the snowplows the Taco is necessary sometimes. Snow around here can get several inches deep over night. So 4wd is a must, hell even front and rear lockers have become a must.

dose that mean one wheel is round and the other square, and it takes hitting a bump for it to turn?

    'Only bad drivers need 4x4'

QFT, I was in a freak snowstorm this year coming back from California in early April, I was white knuckling it on the 77 going South off the 81 towards Hillsville, VA. It was a slippery slope for sure, this one SUV 4 wheel drive idiot comes flying by at 45/50 MPH on a fairly long steep uphill incline, I make a mental note this is going to be bad....

Once said vehicle passed me, they wanted to get over to the right lane. Ya know the little snow berms that build up between lanes??? As they changed lanes at the higher rate of speed, the berm caught the right front tire, obviously a very inexperienced driver thinking 4 wheel drive is the snizit....2 360's and right off the freeway, both bumper ends ended up highsiding front and rear in a graded highway drainage ditch, couldn't move either direction, it was kinda funny...

moral of the story, yeah, 4 wheel drive is much better, if you are not an idiot...I smiled as I passed by in my Prerunner, white knuckles and all, and piloted the last 30 miles home with no incident, during the winter months I always have a heavy sack of something in the rear...

next one I get will be 4 wheel drive...

    Whatever...
