It depends what you want to do. A Jeep will always be more capable than a Tacoma depending on how it's modified (with the exception of sinking thousands into your rig). I've got a Rubicon and my Taco.

    Ohhh I am very jealous!

In the past week someone hit me in the parking lot and now my front bumper has huge scrapes across it and then hit with a door or something and scratched up my passenger side. I want to put money into it, but yet I don't...afraid of lifting b/c of the possible issues with the front end that I have read about.

Nope. A 2007 Honda Gold Wing is my daily driver unless I have to haul lumber. It's tough carrying 2x4s on a motorcycle.

None yet, other than wheels :)
Yeah mine is in pristine condition (absolutely no dents or scratches) so I'm very hesitant to do anything too crazy with it.

I'd much rather spend a few thousand on an old tacoma or 4-runner that I wouldn't care about beating it up. Off-roading's more fun when you don't care if you beat your truck up!

Besides, it wouldn't cost too much more to get a dedicated off-roader than to put a bunch of mods on the new DD taco.

Does rock damage on rocker panel count?
My 99 Taco was a daily driver until the rear end blew out for no apparent reason last weekend. (Although I have done some pretty serious off roading in the past.) Now as I quickly approach the 300,000 mile mark I,m thinking of making it more of just a recreation vehicle.

Mines a daily driver and I don't care to take it off-road at all, it is a truck after all. I just don't like the gas bill that goes along with commuting 50 miles round trip. I have actually considered selling it and getting back into an older taco and another car to DD. If I didnt have any plans to off-road I wouldn't have gotten a 4x4 truck.

Daily driver and full time battering ram.

We have a parking crunch where I live. Needless to say I can come home at 2000hrs and there will still be a spot for my truck when I go to park.

Either that or I park literally an inch off their bumper. Go ahead...hit my ARB with your fucking Cobalt. See how that goes for you.

Wife just called and said I can get a jeep, as soon as the kitchen/dining room/ and living room are finished!

Just need 4k more and I will have the 20k budgeted for all that work.

    Can't Wait!

Mine is my daily driver, but I live on base (a small base) so I don't go far. I put around 100-150 miles a week on it.

Mine is my DD but I am looking into getting a car or a motorcycle. My commute is very small and through town but it sucks driving a manual everyday through town traffic.

My Tacoma is my main car, but I use my 2000 MR2 for longer trips that I don't need my truck for. The gas mileage on the MR2 is obviously better, but the downside is that it doesn't have much space to carry anything. I use my truck for camping, hauling things, when it's raining, or when I need to carry more than 2 people. My truck is a 2006 and I just passed 45K miles.

Depends on the season... I answered no because I put more miles a year as a dd on my motorcycle than the truck but being in NH, the truck becomes the dd somewhere around Nov until mid March. 2007 TRD Offroad with under 26k miles on her.
