Just a bunch of old crap
This man speaks the truth. I love my '06 for its fewer electronic functions than the later models, but the first gens were built right.

Amen. I get this same issue.

Young marriage. The root of all evil.

My wife has a love hate relationship with my mods. She loves the power and speed from the S/C but hates the amount of money it cost. In the end though she never gripes about it. Then again I've never got to the point where we were broke because of a vehicle purchase. I think at that point a wife should always step in and say no, the same way a husband should say no when a wife wants reno's that would put both of them bankrupt. Once you're married or living together expenses are a team sport. You shouldn't act like your money is simply your money, because the courts won't see it that way ;).

As for trading from a 2011 to a 2004, to each his own. I've seen a few of your posts and it's clear you've made up your mind the 2004 is better than the 2011 so there's no point discussing that. IMHO you could of bought a 2015 V6 and had a new, likely reliable, vehicle with warranty to back it up, but then again that's a big chunk of change at your age and not a smart move for that reason alone. She is probably assuming, like most people, that a piece of steel that is 11 years old (it's nearly 2015) is in better shape than one that is 4 years old. Time will tell who is right, just remember if she ends up being right then it won't be easy to win a similar argument in the future. What you two argue about now is a small preview about what you will argue about in the future. Take that advice from someone who married at 20 and divorced at 25 the girl he thought was the love of his life.

Tacoma is stock and staying that way, Pickup is TBA as of now.
A new one would be nice, but I am not financially ready for that big of leap just yet. The 2004 makes more sense for me across the board, I can insure it for liability for one over full that I had to have on the 2011 because it was so new. And full coverage on a new vehicle at my age is high.

After bills are paid and retirement is on track, I get that the husband or wife should be able to save their own money so they can get what ever they want. We don't know if the OP's financial situation is stable.

OP is only 21 and has had more vehicles than I've had my entire life. Sounds like a lot of financial losses have been made over previous vehicles and the wife is tired of being in the red.

Since you are going to be married, all money in the relationship should be considered shared and there should be COMMUNICATION over things that cost a lot, especially for wants over needs.

How would you like it if your significant other bought crazy expensive things that were not a necessity without consulting you on the purchase? It wouldn't fly with me!

My wife didn't mind the '69 El Camino... She suggested my GT500... The only vehicle she hasn't been crazy about was the Tacoma. She wanted me to get a raptor or a lifted F150. I like her attitude lol

(She hated the Ninjas, but that was more of a safety thing.)

It's OUR MONEY and we have to agree on large purchases. Usually we do, sometimes we don't. And when we don't agree then we don't buy whatever it is. That said, we each have our own money that we can buy whatever we want. The bills are paid, retirement, savings, ect. first!

    AGREE 100%

Sounds like she doesn't like you making decisions or making decisions with out her being involved in it. I doubt it is strictly just about you making decisions with the vehicles you are purchasing.
