So I had the clutch pedal replaced under the TSB at my dealer. Now it is difficult to make sure the clutch safety switch engages fully and it causes start issues. There is no adjustment to move the switch closer. Has anyone else experienced this and came up with a fix? I’d rather not return to the dealer as they are a total waste if time. I’d rather fix this myself if possible

I had the same issue with my 2018. The clutch never felt the same after the replacement and I ended up making at least half a dozen adjustments of the clutch pedal myself to try to make it tolerable. It was either make the top of the clutch pedal travel feel natural and not be able to engage the start switch, or be able to engage the start switch but have the first 30% of the clutch pedal just flop back-and-forth. You make the adjustment by loosening the nuts on the plunger behind the pedal, adjusting the travel, and refastening them. I hate to finally admit it, but I got so frustrated with the truck between the issues with the clutch and the awful stuttering and surging I experienced as it switched between Atkinson and Otto cycles that I sold it about four months ago. Do I miss the truck? Meh. I mostly miss engaging with people on this forum.

what kind of effort are you willing to put into the truck to make it yours? i went so far as to replace the works and the results are spot-on and the driver experience couldn't be better for me.

You can actually bend the bracket with the clutch switch forward to contact the pedal sooner.

I taped a felt pad on the bottom. Makes contact great and not permanent

OP check this old thread I made. I had the same issue with the safety switch after the TSB. It turns out they never torqued a bolt that holds the 2 pedal brackets together. This bolt also acts as the top pivot for the actual pedal. When its loose, the assembly flexes so much that the pad on the pedal wont make contact with the switch

Thanks for this!! I’ll be checking bolt torque values later today

Ended up pulling the lower dash panel to inspect the bolts and nuts. Snugged a few down to proper torque value. Still wasn’t enough. Ended up using a small felt furniture pad and a drop of super glue and stuck it the the clutch pedal. Works like a charm. Not the answer I really wanted but I am not going back to the dealer for them to cock it up again.

I also had the squeaking clutch in my 2019 Tacoma. Had the TSB performed by dealer only to have the first 30 percent of the clutch peddle feel like slop or did nothing. Truck was horrible to drive. I returned to dealer for second time and they did correct the adjustments on the peddle correct and truck is fine so far. Think dealers do not have experience to make perfect adjustments with TSB

I had same clutch problems with 2020 TRD Pro & even hired lemon lawyer only to have them tell me it will cost more than it’s worth to go to court. Still driving it for the time being .

Bring your truck to other Toyota dealer. Originally when TSB was performed truck was totally different and felt like I had no control of feeling if clutch grabbed or not. Upon my second return and inspection by dealer it was addressed and original throw and feeling returned. Repair order stated adjustment to peddle performed. Good luck
