It is, though, a bed misalignment problem. So why shouldn't someone tell someone else what the issue is, instead of trying to solve the mysteries of the Toyota manufacturing line?

He is under warranty. It doesn't matter why the bed is misaligned, he isn't the one that's going to fix it.

For everybody else, it's 4 bolts - loosen, align, tighten. If you spent 5 minutes to investigate how the bed is attached and how easy it is to install without accurate alignment then you'd have your answer.

The rest of us are just saying it is common, so it falls inside assembly specs and therefore is not caught by QC as a defect or issue. The rest of us are just saying he doesn't need or deserve a new truck because the bed isn't aligned. The rest of us are just saying don't worry about it, a dealership is familiar with this trait of Tacoma trucks and can and will fix it to OPs satisfaction without charge and undue stress.

There's no need to make a mountain out of a mole hill or blow things out of proportion. It's an easy fix. It happens on every truck. No truck is assembled perfectly, but they're all "within spec."

That's it. That's the real world. There is no great conspiracy.

I'm not saying that beds aren't aligned incorrectly. It seems odd to me that this issue appears to occur on the passenger side, on various years and models. And the amount the tire sticks out is about the same. If the beds were being bolted on in a sloppy manner, there would be some instances where the tire would stick out on on the drivers side and there would be variation in the distance the tires sticks out. My wheel sticks on on the passenger side and my bed is not out of alignment.

Toyota pickup trucks haven't been assembled in Japan since the 70's and even then the beds were installed in the US.

Just thought I'd point that out to you. If you don't believe me Google "Chicken tax".
