Following some of the threads on this forum, I tore my door panel open, popped the linkage, and removed the door latch / lock actuator assembly on my 2007 Access Cab front drivers door. Over the winter it had began to no tunlock from the fob.

I cracked open the case, removed the motor, cleaned up the actuator, then reassembled everything.

Door locks now work like new again... with a couple strange issues.

Now two things happen that didn't happen before.

Before when I clicked the unlock button, the lights would flash and the drivers door would unlock. If I clicked again, the lights would flash and the passenger door would unlock.

That's all working fine except the lights do not flash for the first button press. Only for the 2nd and subsequent clicks.

The other thing is that if the key is in the ignition (off, acc, started, doesn't matter) and I close the drivers side door, the lock actuators sound as if they are cycling, 2 times "ker-thunka, ker-thunka" as if you just pushed the unlock button 2 times, but there is no change (locked / unlocked).

    Ideas?

The only time my lights don't flash is when the locks don't actually cycle. The lights not flashing is a way of letting you know that the locks didn't cycle.

If my keys are in the ignition, and I lock the doors, they will cycle back and unlock. It's so you can't lock your keys in the truck.

Sounds like your actuator motor is still sticking to me. At least that's my guess. Or possibly a bad connection somewhere.

    Interesting. What year is yours?

Mine was doing that when the motor was carboned up. Lights wouldn't flash, and when I'd walk back to the truck the doors where still locked.

But now after cleaning the armature, the locks are working perfect but the lights don't flash when you press the first time to unlock only the drivers side door.

My locks never cycled before with the key in the ignition, especially when it was running. If I lock them before I close the door, they don't change when I close the door. Same if they are unlocked first.

2007, same as yours. I believe they will cycle with just the keys in the ignition, I'll have to test it (it's been a while since I've had a reason to check it). The lights not flashing has only happened to me with the motor got gummed up and wouldn't cycle. The other part is a little weird.

Some of those little actuator arms inside the casing where a mystery when I put it back together, but it all seemed to work fine. That's the only thing I could have got wrong.

That said I'll have to open the door back up and make sure I got all the wiring harnesses back on good and tight.

If there are more than 2 wires coming out of the actuators, then there is probably some kind of sensor of position switch inside that gives feedback to the central locking module or body computer. This could Explain the strange behavior of the keyless system. Is it possible that you mixed up amy parts inside when reassembling the actuator?

The only thing I took out was the motor. My only thought is that the arms inside moved as I was snapping it back together.

    I checked again last night.

If fact if I lock my doors before closing the door, the will unlock if the key is inserted. But it also does this if the truck is running and if the locks are already unlocked.

So what you say makes sense... It's possible one of those links inside the casing moved and it's not being picked up by the sensor as it should.

At this point I'll live with it because opening that POS up was not fun at all.
