2021 trd off road with full tech package. Nothing has changed with my phone or cable, all of a sudden the phone won’t connect to the car for Apple CarPlay. Using usb connection below climate controls. Phone says accessory not accepted? The phone shows as the battery charging when I connect the cord but the battery lvl itself does not go up. Any ideas?

Try restarting the phone (if a recent iphone while it is off tap volume up then volume down then hold down power button until it reboots). It happened to me a few times and a phone reboot seems to have cleared it.

I agree on trying to reboot first.

If that doesn't work, try cleaning the phones charging port. When I first got my 2020 with Android Auto my pixel phone wouldn't connect for most things. It would show my phone connected and charge it but I couldn't use the nav. I would get an error. I tried a few different cables all with the same result.

So I asked a friend to try to connect to my truck. It worked. Same truck, same cable. So I could rule out the truck/head unit being the problem.

Cleaned the shit out of my phone's USB port. Lint just kept coming out. Didn't even look that bad before I started. So apparently the connection was good enough to charge it but not run the data for maps and stuff.

    Good luck.

I’ve had issues with a few of the cheaper cords.
    Try a good one

I periodically clean my iPhone charging port with a needle.
It gets lint from my pocket impacted in there.
I also rub a little Deoxit in there with a tiny piece of paper towel.

definitely try another cord,, preferably an Apple or name brand cord. The gas station and super cheap multi packs found on Amaz-aba are sus at best.

Work makes us watch these "do not compromise the workplace network" videos ... one claims that people can embed viruses in the physical cables and the virus code invades your devices. Not that Apple/Samsung does it, but the cheapest gas-station variety ones can. I cannot back that up with any experience, so I am just reporting.

X2 on that. When I bought my truck, my (GASP!!) Samsung Android was ready to go before I even pulled out of the dealers lot. Not a single problem since.

What previous posts mentioned of using Bluetooth. But usually Bluetooth would first pair when vehicle stopped, engine running. Common sense tell, do first pair parked on side of road away from traffic, or parking lot. Not while driving or at traffic light, might get "road rage" crap.;)

Definitely try different, good quality (Apple or Anker brand) USB cord. Bluetooth can’t be used for CarPlay, unfortunately. Wireless CarPlay uses a funky combination of Bluetooth and WiFi and isn’t supported out of the box on any of the stock 3rd Gen radios — aftermarket radio or adapter/dongle are options but cheap ones can be finicky.

I paired my Bluetooth at the dealer. It auto pairs when I select Bluetooth or pairs right away if I left it on Bluetooth. The side of the road not sure why. Maybe you pull over to connect the usb or select what to listen to? I have either music or an audio book queued up so it starts on its own.
Either way be safe … don’t play with your phone..while driving LOL
