Issues ordering from Factory ?

Recently place the order for a 2021 TRD off Road Cement Manual ,no crazy packages just the Tech package with the LED headlights.
Inventory manager called from the dealer yesterday that the order is in the system and that we have to wait for the factory to accept the order, he stated it could be a possibility of the order being rejected but its unlikely .

Has any of you experience your order being canceled by the factory?

Would appreciate your feedback

I tried to order from the factory last fall. Was basically laughed at. They want you to buy from dealer inventory.

i bet you can get ALMOST exactly what you want from a dealer. Your package isn't that rare. Email every dealer within 200 miles of you. They know what's coming and can reserve it for you.
If you wanted a Limited or Nightshade, you could be in trouble though.

Has ANYONE found a Nightshade or Limited? at the time, I searched within 1000 miles. There was ONE up in Oregon.

 

But don't understand why couldn't you order what you wanted?

Read the thread OZ TRD posted above. My experience is factory order is a scam.
Email what you want to every dealer close enough to drive to. They know what they are getting in. Then negotiate. You may get a few extra things but you can negotiate on price.

I wanted that new nightshade. That was impossible to find. Limited was also impossible. Someone found me very very close to what I wanted. And I am basically blacking it out aftermarket now.
I also was able to negotiate on price against several dealers. Then just drove to pick it up.

I did the same thing for a friend. He wanted white long cab TRD sport, loaded. Googled around and found it, then negotiated price. He got everything he wanted BUT it already had nerf bars on it. Bought it and he can replace the nerf bars on his own. Oh well

Or wait 5 months. HA. And the closer you get to new model year, the harder it is.

Plus, Tacomas are hot right now and interest rates are low, so its tougher than normal

 

well hopefully with mine is not going to be such an issue my packages are really straightforward and i did not order anything out of ordinary. What threw me off is the salesman' comment that there is a slight chance of Toyota Rejecting it. I just want the truck i want don't mind waiting

 

There is no such thing as "factory order" with Toyota. Each dealer get a allocation, they may or may not be allocated a specific package or trim of a truck. They can request certain things like color or port installed options. If they are not allocated for a certain trim that you are looking for they have to dealer trade with a dealership that does have a allocation and give up one of their own in a different trim/style. Allocation is fairly arbitrary and mostly based on market penetration (which dealership sells the most in a given area, gets the most inventory typically).

 

I just want to let you know that Toyota does not take any special orders or build one off vehicles. What this dealer is doing is waiting to see if they get one allocated to them and if not will run a search within their region to find the Tacoma with the specs you are looking for. They will try to work out a dealer trade with the dealer that either has it or is getting it. If it gets "rejected", that means they were not able to lock one down for you.

I understand now, thanks for the explanation but what happens if the factory cannot allocate one or the dealer cannot find one to trade with another dealers . I'm left without any options?

 

I got a similar answer from my dealer saying they'd have hear back for this vehicle to be made available. They called me the next day it went through. About 10 weeks later i was driving it home.

I was going to say find a different dealer but then I see that you live in Kalifornistan.

I lived there for a long time and have had lots of new cars but all but one was bought in state because dealers there act like they are doing you a favor selling you a car that you don't really want.

I have a few friends who still live there that ended up buying Raptors out of state because dealers there wanted 10 to 15K over sticker, and you can't even spec it.

It's a lot of money, order exactly what you want.

 

Including my Pro manual my dealer got exactly 2 in the last 6 months.

During this time they had quite a few automatic Pro come through.

That was their explanation as well. You can't really order per se but wait for them to build them a certain way and hope that you get one. That's how I ended up waiting 6 months for one.

 

The TRD Off-Road in cement with a manual is in high demand, especially with just the LED lights and Tech Package. You will have a better chance finding one with an automatic. Toyota does not build manuals like the automatics and cement is the most popular color. We just recently had two at the dealership I work at (Marysville Toyota) with this set up and they lasted one day, once they hit our our website and 3rd parties like Autotrader, Cargurus, Cars.com, etc. If you're not in a rush, your local dealer will eventually get one or find one. Allocation locks for each dealer at the 2nd or 3rd of each month. Best bet is to call the dealers near you and see if they earned any. A dealer can also put in what's called a "boss exchange". Say they get one set up the way you want but it's in silver. They can put in a request to change the color to cement and delete or add certain options. There is a 50/50 chance that request will get approved by Toyota.

 

ALL my local Raptors friend, get them in Montana. Same reason my Cement 21 DCLB was out of state. Why give CA dealers any business. Sheisty Morons.

Internet has level'd the playing field. Mobster CA dealers can't hold us hostage. Now if we choose to overpay and give them our hard earned money, its on us.

One of my neighbors paid $10,000 over MSRP for a Type R. Another friend, went to WI and got it at MSRP + 800$ shipping.

 

That's about right. Horrible here. I hit up 8 dealers in Nor Cal. All but one was thousands over MRSP. ONE dealer (Elk Grove) gave me and a friend the Costco deal. Found what we wanted (or at least very very close) and we paid $2000 under MSRP w/no BS add ons. waited about two weeks and He sold two trucks to us in under two hours.

 

thank you. I don’t mind waiting but definitely not getting an automatic. Had a 2016 automatic and hated that transmission hunting. I don’t mind waiting as long as I get the truck I want
