I just have the howl noise, does not bother me though, I may get under there and tape it off or whatever when the weather gets nice and I have the windows down more.

I moded 1999 Taco so much it had turned to Land Cruiser
thats because this poll is missing bunch of other issues, like exploding engine, transfer case or differential, burned cam sensors and head gaskets swaps... etc.
    :D
Wow its nice to have 2gen, and not to worry about all that crap.

I'm doubting someone would check off "No issues at all" simply because there was no option for their issue.

Lets hope people did not double or triple check some of the duplicate issues. That would be inflated.

Received a call this morning from Toyota customer care. I had sent them a respectful email three days ago expressing my concerns about the low drive train fluid levels and my product loyalty to Toyota being tarnished . The woman I spoke with was very pleasant and got all of my information and gave me a 100,000 mile power train warranty that covers the same things as the original 60,000 mile warranty. Waiting for the hard copy documents to be mailed to me and a confrontation email.

Did you have actual work done? Or did you just mention that others have had the issue? (I am looking for angles if I ever need them in the future........my hope is that my list of possible things actually gets looked at--even tho I have not had issues, but you never know)

I did the work myself. I don't have time to waste at dealers telling me they can't replicate the issue and doing nothing. She did have me walk through the process of how I checked the AT fluid to insure I was following the service advisory for the AC60F AT in my truck. I think she was seeing if I knew what I was talking about. I did mention I had "friends" that had similar issues with the cold reverse to drive and rough shifting. And I had the tow package.

Yeah. I am hosed on the DIY as I have not messed with that since carbs were the norm. I suppose I will just go in with the notes of potential issues and lists ppl have put here and put my foot down......hah!

I am guessing the customer care info is somewhere in my awful stack of paperwork, or in the manual bundle (which is crazy huge!)?

Just a friendly word of advise. Once you start yelling and cursing no matter how loud you get, they won't hear you. I kill them with kindness. It's not really the fault of the person you are speaking to on the phone.

I did the same thing. I had a few other issues I brought up and said the same thing about the loyalty and quality I was use to from a Tacoma. They gave me a platinum 100,000 7 year warranty. So I was happy about that. All of my factory issues have been fixed as well.

Can't say bad things about their customer service.

Maybe those without issues aren't even bothering to open the thread.... why bother, they have nothing to report.

Also, what percentage of actual owners do you think are members of TW, 1 in 5, in 10, in 100? For that reason I would take these percentages with a grain of salt.

Yes, but do the same poll on TR4.org and you will see much lower numbers.

I meant the same type of poll. They have the same general crowd there, yet I bet the list of issues for the 4Runner would be half that of the Tacoma and the percentages would be much smaller.

Yeah but look at this poll, two transmission fluid low choices, two choices for etune reboots, two choices for rattles.... no wonder it seems longer.

You should add "Frame rust". The two previous Tacoma generations had it. I have a feeling it's only a matter of time before the 3rd gen has it. Maybe as soon as 2-4 years from now in the saltiest environments.
