Well I finally got some BFG All Terrains, stock size for my FJ, mounted on my 16" Mojaves but now I have an issue with balancing. My steering wheel vibrates ,but only half the time. There are times when I enter the freeway and once I get above 50MPH The steering wheel starts vibrating. Its not a violent shake, just a shimmy that can be felt when your gripping the steering wheel lightly or it can be seen when no hands are on the wheel. Like I said though, this only happens half the time. There are other times when I board the fwy and everything is fine.

Discount Tire rebalanced the wheels for the 3rd time today, even after re-calibrating their machine, and their machine is reading a balanced tire despite my experiences.

The calipers on my FJ are kinda big, and the wheel weights are limited to where exactly they can be placed. If placed in the path of the caliper, they rub and make an annoying noise. Even with the limited area of wheel weight location, though, discount tire has been able to "balance" them.

Any suggestions? I dont want my tires cupping as theyre brand new, and Im sure irregular wear patterns would void the warranty.

Search for "Road Force Balancing" and you'll most likely find your answer.

I did. $120 to balance tires is not my answer. However, Im willing to pay that so my wife doesnt orgasm while we're on the fwy. And to save my tires too. Damnit here goes more money...

    Thanks!

i had the same damn problem. then i went in there the last time and said if you dont fix it give me new tires. they found that they needed to place the weights on the outside of the rim on the inside of the tire instead of placing the weights in the middle of the wheel.

Yea I'm not feeling thE $100 for balancing. I'm gonna take it in one last time, and if they can't do it I'm gonna ask them to pay for the roadforce service. One of reasons I bought tires from them was bc of the lifetime balancing and rotation. Hope it all works out. I'll keep you guys postd.

I have this exact same problem with my Tacoma. I am finally gonna go find a place that does roadforce balancing. Its been about 5 re-balancing at a standard tire shop, still same problem.

I have the same problem right now with my truck. Discount tire and BFG's. I had them rebalanced 3x now and they gave me new tires, this time, highway tires, but it still does the same damn thing! Very frustrating!

Well the fuckers wanted to charge me for the road force balancing bc it was a different shop, though still Americas Tires. I said no and he did the regular spin balancing on them, and it seems to have worked (maybe the other shop was just incompetent?). I drove the fwy on my way home but it was traffic so I couldnn get a good feel but it seems fine. If problems persist I'll have to go back to the original shop and bitch about all the gas, time, and money I've wasted on this balancing process.

Ok so my FJ is still shaking/vibrating. Fuck my life. 4 balances later it's still doing it. Brought it in again today and the guy showed me how 2 of my rims are bent. So I had to order 2 new ones.
