Hey Tacoma Community! I currently own a 1998 Tacoma TRD 4x4, and will soon be looking for a later model 2nd gen, 2013, 2014 or 2015. What I want is a 4 door, long bed, 4x4 automatic as stock as possible with roughly 100,000 to 150,000 miles. I am the second owner of my Tacoma, it has just over 200,000 miles and is basically stock. I did put a 1.5 - 2" leveling kit/lift and 17" steelies off a new FJ Cruiser, camper shell and Yakima racks with Rocket Box. I joined Tacoma World today to get your feed back on selling my current Tacoma and purchasing my next. Note, I don't plan on these transactions happening until the beginning of 2024ish... just wanted to get the ball rolling and pick your brains

    Thanks

I'm in California in the central Sierras... Judging by the amount people are asking for these around here, somewhere between $13,000 to $15,000 This is not a beater, I'm the second owner and only use 4WD for the snow

Welcome to Tacomaworld! The 2012-2015 "refresh" trucks are mature technology and in general all of the bugs were worked out and corrected by Toyota. A 2015 will be the sweet spot if only because it's the youngest of the 2nd generation trucks. That said, all of them are a good bet. Since you're in California I'll assume rust and frame-rot will not be an issue if you can confirm the truck has lived its entire life in CA. That said: check the frame anyway for any rust or rot because I believe the grace period for frame replacement has now expired unless the truck has had the mandatory dealer inspection and frame corrosion compound (CRC) application. Ask for confirmation paper-work. Make sure the 4x4 system is working correctly/flawlessly/and push all the buttons in the truck.

When I was looking for one, a DC/V6/4WD/Automatic LWB with a long bed was a Unicorn. Hard to find. I gave up and got the 5' bed. Try to find one with the Tow Package. Even if you'll never tow with it: it includes a lot of goodies.

Good luck with your search! Take your time and have fun!
