Most the time yes. Right now lease numbers aren't too far off from straight financing.

I don't understand these posts... WHY

    1. if you got pricing at MSRP you didn't call enough people... I bought mine at 3k under 2 months ago. Idid this calling multiple dealers, was like about 6 or 7. Was a lot, but I got a great deal.
    2. interest rate at 5%??? Thats pretty good right now. Haven't been seeing what's going on in the economy? What'd you expect?

These things are depreciating assets if you don't plan to keep them until "the wheels fall off." Even in the production shortage, its catching up its not going to get better, don't expect a "return" even after one year. Dealers aren't wrong when they say your trade won't be worth more than it is today. The getting good is gone. Even at 1.95% interest, you are losing money, more than you would be if you had bought it with cash. Used car market has fallen big time over the last 6 moths.

I fidnt have the Shelby just the base model in black. The paint was coming off after 6 months. Dodge had an acid rain disclosure and the paint wasn't covered. Worst car I've ever owned. The model year before they were actually made by mitsubishi if memory serves and I've actually seen one on the road not too long ago. Most of the Dodge versions of the late 80s were ground into brillo pads by 1990. My 90 year old grandfather at the time hated Dodge.......smart man. My first and last Dodge but I do have a Wrangler JKU, atleast that has some resale value.

That is great. You sound like my friends. They had $400 a month car payments compared to my $129 per month. One of those guys that I still keep in touch with stopped by the other day in his 2016 Escalade and was complaining about still making payments and owing more than it is worth while looking at my 66 mustang (I have had since high school), my 1976 Corvette, my 2022 Corvette, long with my other 3 daily drivers (all are 2018 and newer) and he had to listen to me complain about how long it was going to be before I could place my order for the E-Ray. He asked how much I paid in payments each month and looked confused when I told him zero. They are all owned. No chance I would be in this position had I been making those $400 a month payments on an e-3 salary. Of course it would have been nice to have been able to impress the ladies in a 5.0 in those days.

Not all states, here in the terrible state of Oklahoma we don't receive sales tax credit.

I came of age during those years. I think at one time you could get 20% on deposits of 1 million or more. It was brutal.
Gas doubled in price from .50 to $1.00 then it jumped from $1.00 to $2.00..... the Saudi's claimed they were running out
of oil at the time. Fast forward 50 years and they're pumping more than ever. It's all a sham.
