On the road today and saw this (a Chevy, not a taco). How easily does this happen? I installed bed brackets before seeing anything like this. Feel lucky!

According to some, the truck damage makes them more macho,,, so that gal is the macho-erest.

Any bets on how long the low-center-based rope will take to completely collapse the bedside and thus the entire "topper" (just being generous about the description)?

It's a gm product, the bodies rust out and fall off. Rope, duct tape and ratchet straps are all common on gm products.

Guys using his truck as a truck. Can’t say I’ve seen that a lot on any make/model. You never know what caused that

    minor tweaks
Based on the material in the bed and the fact that the owner extended the bedsides so it will hold even more pretty much lays this right on the rocket scientist behind the wheel.

Kids, don't try this at home.

For many (myself included) a truck is a tool and consumable. I have a taco and a 3/4 ton chevy....the 3/4 ton is kinda beat but it doesn't move unless it's making me money hauling 2000lbs or more that the tacoma won't deal with. The truck in the picture suits it intended purpose and will continue to make it's owner the same amount of money as a new shiny truck with a straight body...why spend the money when this tool still gets the job done?

I saw a last gen K30 DRW dump truck on the road ysterday. I belive GM stopped building those in 91, the whole thing was covered in primer bed dump bed and body all looked solid. Then I saw a K30 SRW late 70s with a drop in dump bed in the orginal bed that thing looked immaculate.

Yeah, but only because the handle broke and it can't be opened to steal. GM's finest quality at work.

I mean sure, why get something new if what you have does the job. But I also don't leave my tools on the driveway, drive over them, and let them rust in the rain. It's just lazy to treat your tools like shit.
