So it’s started ladies and gentlemen. I’m finally making the big plunge into off-roading this beast. My truck goes in on June 8th for a Icon stage 8 ( don’t wanna hear the hate) , 35’s KO2, regearing to 5.29, placing an ARB back locker with dual air compressor, welding spindle gullets and a Cab mount relocation. I’ll definitely post pictures cause I want that praise lol. In all honesty what’s the next phase armor or electric. I’ll let you decide after 3 months

Will you actually be using it?
Post some photos when it’s finished.

It depends on if you’re actually off roading or if you are “overlanding”. If off roading then armor, full steel skids at a minimum.

What’s your experience off roading? You don’t need 90% of that to do 90% of typical off roading.

Also, you don’t appear to have sliders either. If you get the suspension before the armor and you don’t account for the weight with your spring selection you’re going to be an unhappy camper with a bunch of new parts to sell.

Experience so far had been in a 91 Chevy short cab short bed that I dropped a vortex V8 and redid the transmission with 33’s in the mud . Also helped with my buddy in Grand Canyon with K5 blazer transmission. Not saying I have a grand total as most of y’all here but I’m trying to do it right and with y’all’s help of course

The spindle gullets should be everyones first mod, they really make the truck EAT up the bumps

Yeah I’m no off roading pro, Just want to make sure that this isn’t your first truck and you think you need to spend $20k on upgrades to take it off pavement.

I would suggest sliders, they are the BEST armour. A high clearance rear plate bumper is also very handy.

Armour, getting home is more important than seeing the rock that you have no choice but to risk cracking your tranny open on.

I don't know dick about off roading. I bought a 2wd truck apparently to only help cheapskate friends move shit.

But it sounds like you're buying "cool" stuff first before the necessary stuff if you're going to be off roading? Sounds like you want to build a capable truck that can go wherever, but aren't buying things to protect it. Again I know nothing about off roading.

Won’t be doing off-roading hard till I get armor , but there are steps involved - gears for the tires , tires for the higher clearance, lift maybe coulda went a different path but I’ll prolly be adding bump stops and eventually secondary, ARB locker - because they are already regearing and I don’t want to pay labor 2X , spindle gussets because I don’t want my stuff to bend and CMR because I’m trying to diminish CMC as much as possible . If you start adding more weight and armor you will eventually need to regear or Toyota will be a turd . So by no means do I think I know everything and ask many guys on here for their opinions before moving forward.
