There are a lot of threads here regarding making mods, lifting, adding big tires, putting on ditch lights, or in general trying to make the truck as "cool" as possible. In my humble opinion about 99% are just ego massages, but its the owner's money and they can do whatever they want.

So, I thought I would remind some, that it is still a truck and can actually do "truck things". Photos show my '11 getting 1/2 yard of top soil. I have had a yard loaded without issue, but the dirt was too wet & heavy to chance it.

    Nothing wrong with using them.
I’m still rolling stock. I’ve used my bed quite a few times.
From cinder blocks to fire wood.

I have a trailer now that is dedicated to hauling larger loads.

short bed, no less! Yup, these are trucks to be worked. I bought mine with a hard cover tonneau, which I would never have chosen myself. Surprised to find I really like having it, but I've also mastered the quick removal, as it needs to make way for hauling duties pretty regularly. Good on ya.

@vtdog those look like LTX AT2's....man I love those tires.

What's with the jack holding up the rear? Just storing the sod in the bed temporarily?

    Agree 100%.
It's funny that my 4-cylinder has more payload capacity than some V6 models because of the lighter drivetrain, which allows more weight added before reaching the capacity of the chassis.
This is nowhere near capacity but a perfect example of why I bought this little 5-lug... plug helping friends move, hauling firewood, gravel/stone, etc. Does everything I need!20190530_115547.jpg

Wait a minute let’s pause, nothing wrong with them looking good and doing truck stuff, but I did notice you protected your precious bed with a tarp and looks like some rubber mats or something. Lol

If all I wanted from a truck was to haul some dirt around I would have gotten a Ford.

Oh that’s neat I was wondering what that huge rectangle behind my seat with nothing in it was. Do you just put the dirt right on top of it? That won’t break the metal??? Crazy

Between Starbucks runs and trips to the mall to pick up chicks, mine occasionally gets used to haul my massive wood around.

Seriously though - who cares what other people do? Ain't nobody got time for that.

If I had planned to do much truck stuff, I'd definitely shy away from the Taco. It's a good little truck, but hauling is not it's forte. I've had two occasions in which I had around 500lbs in the bed, and it has very noticeable sag from that little bit. No way in hell would I try to put a whole yard of soil in there. That can be 2-3 times the payload WITHOUT factoring in the driver and passengers.

usually I hear it called "laying cable" What is this sod you speak of? Does it increase the urgency of running errands and returning home?

I did a similar thing one time with a bunch of gym weights in the back of my truck. Got home, needed sleep, and used a floor jack under my trailer hitch receiver to “deload” the springs.
