After watching a few YouTube videos, of people going off roading in the snow…That is really going off roading…where conditions can change so quickly..and for those people who like to camp in the snowy terrains…AWESOME! Don't know how you guys do it! But at lease you do not need to bring ice for the coolers..

in Hawaii when we do a 2-3 trip, fishing and camping at the beach…I will bring my 2- 151qt igloo coolers..and carry at least 2 - 50 lbs bag ice…. One cooler is for fish..( the Ulua’s can get over 100 lbs each..other 151qt cooler is for the food and drinks..plus a 48 qt for baits….

Made a snowman with my kids many, many years ago…in front of our garage when we came home from the Mauna Kea mountain..13,803 elevation, my home was at 900 feet elevation…so it melted very fast..from the hot sun…still it was fun!

When I was younger I didn't mind the cold and snow, I assume Backcountry skiing is what I've heard called cross country skiing. Something I haven't tried but looks like a good time. The coldest ambient temperature I have personally experienced was -50 no wind. That being said it wasn't as bad as being in -15 with a 15mph wind. Wind-chill is probably the worst thing to get use to. I used to enjoy a walk through the woods with fresh snow and a bottle of water. The quiet and views are unmatched. Ice fishing is also a good time.

We first visited Hawaii in February of 2019 during the polar vortex in the Midwest/US mainland. We left -40°F temps in Chicago for 85° in Hawaii. During our time on Maui it snowed atop Haleakalā. But thanks to the stupidity of some locals back in the day (and presumably some non-locals) getting unnecessarily hurt, Haleakalā closed due to the snow. So us Midwesterners who wanted to see the snow in paradise had to view it from afar.

It's a white form of rain. And it's fluffy and cool to the touch. When compacted it makes like ice, then it turns into water and either goes in the ground or runs off into the drain system.

Yep, and snowed the day before, and the day before that. This is about 3 weeks ago. We added some more last night.

That is proper cold! I like snow conditions below zero but I will pass on -50 (yiikes). We spend time in Alaska but in Anchorage near the coast it is fairly temperate, the mountains in the eastern Idaho wester Wyoming are much colder and about -24 is the lowest temp that I like to ski or snowmachine in, which is fine until you gain speed and the wind chill kicks in. Wintertime backcountry treks are the most dangerous thing that I do and require the most preparation, avalanche gear / satellite tracking device / survival gear. It is a far cry to living in Hawaii with the only danger being hit by a coconut :)

Thank you. I blocked it out of my mind ever since I moved from Vermont to Florida.

Several years ago I was going to the Soo so often for work the client made me an honorary Yooper. I knew I was in trouble when all the rental cars had block heaters.

I ordered snow tires today after going sideways this morning. Just a little extra insurance. But like in years past, buying snows will pretty much guarantee a snow free winter.

It's also the gateway to buying new wheels and bigger tires for the spring/summer/fall.
