    Cool! An FJ-60!

Look for rust, carburetor/smog equipment issues, and front axle knuckle leakage. FJ-60's came with 4 speed manual transmissions. The FJ-62's, intro'd in 1988, came with auto trans, fuel injection, electric windows/door locks, and nicer interior trim (and rectangular headlamps). Top speed on both versions is about 65mph.

If you were savvy, you would find/import an FJ-60 with the 12H-T direct injection turbodiesel (Canada).

The asking prices in craigslist ads for those old 4x4s, toyota and otherwise, are hilarious.

I lived near the corner of 23rd St. and 4th Ave. for 20 years; used to ride my bike through Prospect Park all the time on my way to my office.

Also used to ride my bike along the "shore" from Red Hook down to the Verrazano Bridge looking for access to the ocean, only found 3 small areas one could actually approach the water.

When I first moved to Brooklyn in 1994, there were no tall buildings along 4th Ave south of Atlantic Ave; now, it's like walking through a canyon.

Anyone remember Todd Shipyard in Redhook (presently ikea)?
Place closed down in the early 90s, and we did a partial site assessment of it about 15yrs later. They just closed the doors, everything was as it was left, including countless little wooden blocks utilized as flooring, all the paycheck and injury reports from the early 30's on and two jeep CJ's, an interesting site for sure.
