I used to live in Germany and made several trips to Italy. Lots of fun times there. My wife and I will be spending two weeks in Capri and the Amalfi Coast in April. The best thing about Italy are the women! Short skirts and tall leather boots. Italy is a lot of fun.

Because of the short timeline on the first trip it'll probably just be Florence and a night in Milan before I fly back. We're looking at doing Venice and maybe one other during my trip in April. We may also try a day trip to Cinque Terre

When are you going over in April? Also, I'm not sure my girlfriend would be as interested in the girls in short skirts as I would

The official tourist season starts on Easter Sunday, so that's when we are going. Fair weather and less tourists, but most places will be open. I'm sure your girlfriend will notice the other women. All women do. If she says something, just suggest she buy some leather boots for herself while she is there.

I'll be headed back to the states on Easter Sunday. Maybe I'll pass you in an airport somewhere

We leave Chicago on Sunday but don't get in to Frankfurt until Monday morning. Be in Naples around noon and on the ferry to Capri.

We really don't plan to do anything on this trip except sleep late, eat good food, and drink cheap wine. Just two weeks of nothing but enjoying ourselves. No list of things to do or see.

I take it back then, I'm connecting through Frankfurt which would mean I'd missed my flight if I bumped into a fellow TW'er.

That's my goal for these trips as well, just to relax and enjoy life

Europe can be less than fun when you have a list of must see places like some people do. I was glad to live there for three years and just take it in over time.

Is your girlfriend studying independently or through a US school? My daughter just got back from a semester in New Zealand and Australia and loved it.

It's part of a program through her school here in the states, one of her friends spent last semester in Australia and loved it

OK. Thought it might be Harding university. They have a campus in Florence and Australia, as well as other locations. I'm not familiar with CET.

She has one class through the University of Florence and the rest are at the contract school. I'm not surprised that there are multiple programs though. Who wouldn't want to have the opportunity to travel like that

Yeah, travel is great. My daughter goes to Harding and they encourage study abroad. They have their own campus in London, Paris, Florence, Greece, Zambia, New Zealand/Australia, and Chile. Almost half the school does at least one semester abroad.

If you get a chance to go north, the Italian Alps are unbelievable. Great place to snowboard or hike, depending on the season.

My girlfriend is at Vandy and a large group of them go abroad as Juniors. I did my undergrad at LSU and knew nothing about our study abroad program. It's hard to decide whether you'd rather miss football or baseball season

Congrats to dating a Vandy grad. My daughter toured the med school there last summer although she has very little chance of being accepted. We have several friends that are Vandy grads and it seems their alumni connections are as good as any Ivy league school. As far as the LSU thing though, I'm a razorback, so...

She's not a grad yet! I won't hold being a Razorback against you because we can still share a hatred of Alabama!

And congrats to her on heading to med school!

Anyway, back to Italy. I love strong cheese and good wine. Hard to fine any better than what Italy has to offer. Hope you and your girlfriend make many great memories there. My family certainly has.
