    Has anybody switched?

I've heard numerous other vehicles are better.
I hope so. Sounds like they could be:

    -same price or cheaper
    -stronger
    -more powerful
    -more luxury
    etc.

    some ideas I have:
    -80 series landcruiser
    -OBS Ford
    -old Cummins
    -06.5 Duramax LBZ or similar
-good 2500hd/3500hd (non dually) diesel, preferably no/pre DEF
    -1st gen Taco
    -pickup
    -T4R, 3G V6, 4G V8, 5G 4.0
    -Lexus GX, 470, 460

Buddy of mine had a 2G. Wanted a Duramax and sold it to get one. Was the same price.
That thing was big. Similar MPG, more power, bigger tank.
Went for a spin around the block and damn. That luxurious spacious leather interior, boat captain's chair. Thought I was Bush in Air Force One.

No way. The Tacoma is the best vehicle ever made and always will be!

I've had a truck just like that since 2009 but a 6.0 and green. The leather captain chairs are the best seats ever. I now use it as a 2nd vehicle for pulling stuff or hauling anything heavier. It has been a good tuck but it is an 03. While it is one of the best trucks chevy has ever made, I have had piddly issues with it that I don't feel like are as common with a tacoma. Also diesel repairs are very expensive vs gas. The tacoma is nice as a daily. I can whip it into smaller spaces and still haul stuff.

The ONLY reason I would do it would be for more power, but I love the size of the Taco. I'd seriously consider a clean 1st gen. That 3.4L engine is pretty lack luster, but it's a good engine.

The only itch I have is to trade up to the new Tacoma, but it wouldn’t make much sense because my 2012 is perfect. Built how I like it, excellent frame, no mechanical problems whatsoever and paid off. I never get the new truck itch, but for some reason, I have it now.

That’s the final straw. Disband Tacoma World. Everyone go get your something else. Radio silence. I hope to see a few on you on the Subaru Baja forums.

new Tacoma has confirmed turds. As did turd gen.

don’t get me wrong. 2nd gen is sick.
    But imagine…more sick…

    more luxury
    More power
    More towing
    More off road capability
    More room

a Tacoma that’s even more Tacoma than the Tacoma and takes Tacoma points level to another level
Like a higher rank within the cool guy zone

Every new model has people complaining. My neighbor, who is one of my good friends, bought one. He let me drive it a couple weeks ago and it is really nice. I’d buy one in a heartbeat. As for switching to anything other than a Tacoma, that’s a hard no.

    I hope so.
Pretending to be long travel with wheel offset not good.
    Welded tow hitch not good.

    but hybrid? Good.
    Electric at low speed? Good.
    More power? Good.
More electricity watts supply onboard stock? Good. For sure.

expensive as hell though. To be otherwise basically the same vehicle for triple the price.

My 2007 is my first Tacoma and most likely my last. I have no intention of getting rid of it and i will be driving it for a long time. I have zero interest in a forced induction 4 cylinder, radar cruise control, crawl control, heated, power everything. And the price of new vehicles is absolutely criminal. There is not a truck of any make out there past the 2010's that I would even consider. Anything running any kind of active fuel management/cylinder deactivation/forced induction has proven to be junk. See all the engine recalls from every manufacturer. Toyota's reputation for dependability is gone along with all others. Engineered obsolesce is real. Most people only keep a vehicle for a few years and the manufactures exploit this. Old curmudgeon signing off. :)

when u start feelin the itch is a good time to do a realistic assessment of what you actually use your vehicle for and if its meeting your needs. There's always going to be a new shiny or greener grass somewhere

ultimately whatever vehicle you choose has to fit with how you actually use it. Moving from a taco to a gx460 for instance only makes sense if you dont want a truck bed lol Which you seem to be entertaining given your list up there. My wife has a gx460 and its great but doesnt get you anything if you need a truck bed
