Dodge is still offering the manual with a 6.7 diesel.

This is true, but the motor is de-tuned (And no High-Output option) if you check the manual trans option when ordering. Supposedly the current 6-speed cannot handle the torque from the new High Output mill. Apparently the only reason Ram still offers this, because a bunch of Cummins/Dodge/ err Loyalist declared to burn them at the stake if they refused to offer it.

The fact is, now the automatic is beefier and better than the manual and should be the only way to go in 2014+ with one of these trucks. I love manuals, but IMO only a moron would get the manual & detuned Cummins over the ultra slick High Output / Auto version.

I had a dealer search for one and couldn't find one. I just knew I didn't want a Dodge automatic.

The manual trans isn't up to snuff, the engine literally tears the gears apart in the manual trans on the 6.7's.

I would've bought one otherwise when I was shopping for my truck. It had to have a manual, and so the options were the Taco, Frontier, or the Dodge with the 6.7. After research that eliminated the Dodge, and a test drive and crappy interior killed the Frontier, I got the overpriced Tacoma.

I'm very happy with my Tacoma but feels like it needs the supercharger to make it the perfect truck; now I'm just slowly saving up for one, very slowly.

Ask any Dodge owner... Front end and tranny issue are common. Buy a Dodge and get an extra tranny.. you will need it.

Don't believe me... ask any Dodge owner that has owned one for more than a few years.

    But anyway... Best of luck!

#1 (2001) currently has 600,200 miles on it, and has only needed 1 clutch, starter, valve job, and batteries.
    #2. (2005) 297,000 needed 1 clutch, batteries
    #3(2011) 93,000 miles, needed nothing
    #4 (2014) 8,000 miles, nothing so far.

Only issues I have had with Dodge, was my Dakota. THing would fall apart simply by starting it.

Only issue I had with either one of mine was the 2003 headliner fell the fuck off.... I mean fell the fuck off driving down the road. I was towing my 27" travel trailer and a boat behind it and it fell the fuck off! The entire headliner not just a portion. Other than that it was a great truck. I wish I would have never traded it in on the 05.

The 2005 was a decent truck but the nav system never ever worked at all. It told me one time I was in Africa. I know the Cummins is a great engine but I don't think it could pull Africa to me or vice versa. Blue smoke at start up (fixed with TSB). Would randomly just decide to switch into 4x4 for no reason? It was a POS.

I HATE those fucking nav systems. I went off road once, and the fucking thing kept saying "WARNING......YOU ARE OFF OF THE ROAD". I looked at it, and screamed "NO SHIT! IM IN A 4x4!!!"

And the off road ride on the Cummins Dodge is only marginally more comfortable than being drug by a galloping horse down the same road.

Update 2 years later...Dont do it!! That ram I only had for like 2 months and it was a load of shit. Paint / clear was terrible. The transmission felt horrible. The thing started to smoke like crazy because hung injector....just terrible all around.

Then i ended up getting a BMW car.... went back to a tubo inline 6...well its a cozy car, but the thing has some weird issues at times, and does not hold its value at all. So now im stuck with it at the moment until im not upside down on it, and I currently have a 99 Jeep Cherokee Sport that I had started working on.

I have a child now as well, and another on the way. I would give anything to have my old tacoma...I dunno what happened to it. But I think now I would be better family-wise in a tundra.....i miss my yota. :( Its probably been beat to hell.

God I love Tundras.......testing them was awesome. Decent price too around the same as a tacoma here. I am torn between that and a new ram ecodiesel.......but Im holding out for a bit first

    Sorry to hear that.

I always read the posts about whatever other trucks having all sorts of problems and usually write them off as just folks who love toyota. Sounds like there is some validity to it, especially in this case.

I sure like those new f150's though...

I think this is the first time I have seen someone come back 2 years later and post an update like that. Good for you for being honest.
