Had one in my old truck and let it go with the truck. Too hard to unwire and I figured after 4 years in the Arizona Heat, I was lucky it wasn't cooked.

    New Truck - New Cam!

I know what I want and where I want to put it and all. Where is a good place to get power? I have the electric rear view mirror. Is there a good tap in there? Or should I run it around to the fuse block somewhere?

People here like the “dongar technologies” since you can tap in behind the rear view mirror. I don’t personally like it since it’s bulky.

In my 17 I went behind radio since I was installing a new head unit in tandem.

in the 22, I went fuse taps since I was trying to be quick and be done with it.

I have a 2010 but I went for the inside fuse box and tapped the power lock fuse.

DAYUM! That was easy. Guess I'll give the Donger a try.

Another vote for Dongar. Garmin mini 2 with the Dongar adaptor. Including sticking on the mount and setting up the app it took 15 min start to finish.

Same setup I have and I love it. The dongar hides well behind the mirror

Yup agreed. Sitting in the truck you can't see the entire setup is there. Even from the outside you have to look for it to notice it.

Love the Dongar adapter. The only drawback is that is does not supply constant power to the dash cam. Our dash cam has an “impact mode” that allows it to start recording if there’s a sudden movement. I’ve never used that option so the Dongar adapter is fine. But if you want power all of the time, then hard wiring would be necessary.

Last truck had some circuits that were hot for like 30 minutes after you shut off. And the cam had about a 20 to 30 minute reserve for detecting bumps. Made it a nice compromise because I'm rarely anywhere for more than an hour an if so its like 90 minutes so 66% of my time is covered. I was a great compromise.

Isn’t constant power really what you want in order to help protect those things that go bump in the night? Oh I think I backed into that truck…. Oh it’s fine nothing on my bumper and just a cracked marker light on his

With the garmin parking mode you need both a constant and a switched. I think it changes modes once the ign is turned on.

I use a Blackvue with a PMP to monitor power in parking mode. Uses two addafuse into the interior fuse panel. 3 years since install and it’s perfect.

Yes I did purchase the Dongar technologies with intentions of a Garmin 57 or mini 2. Came across the Fit Cam X. Installed very quick all cable and hookups in box. So far so GooD. Clean OEM look.

I have the Garmin mini with the Dongar adapter plugged into the mirror, like the other guys. I love it. It’s been running flawlessly since I installed it a year and a half ago, I haven’t had to touch it once.

The Garmin app is pretty good too.

Thanks to Phenom 3030 and Bozojuice I took a look at the Fit Cam X. Very interested after just a little research. FYI if you want want parking mode, they offer a cable ($40) to provide continuous power.
