i spent like a year trying to find a girl then i half-way gave up and started to just hang out with friends. we went over to a bbq one night and there she was, my future wife. don't make it a point to find a girlfriend, just get out there, go hang with some friends, go bowling, hiking, camping, 4-wheeling, bbq-ing, whatever, and she'll be there

You haven't had to look for a girlfriend in 6 years? I say enjoy being single for a little while. Hang out with your friends. Girlfriends are just a pain in the ass sometimes.

Don't be in too big of a rush to "find a girlfriend". You will eventually find that someone special when you least expect it. If you are looking, you will never find the right girl.

As far as trying to meet new friends, join a club, what about school? Work friends?

    Good luck!

Don't look for a gf. Just let it happen when you accidentally meet Ms. right. It sounds like you're in the mode to force a relationship. Bad things happen when you go trolling for a gf. Just concentrate on yourself for right now. Experts would say that you should wait 2 years, seeing as you're coming out of a 6 year relationship(I'm laughing at this one, you're only 20 dude, party on). Take some time to get to know yourself without an anchor.
There's nothing wrong with not being in a relationship, hell you might actually be able to make significant progress on your Taco(I'm talking about the one your drive, not the one you drive!).

a plus side on not having a gf is more mods for your taco!

I can only recommend, at the age of 20, stop wallowing and get the f out there and enjoy the hell out of life.
You don't need a girlfriend. take up a new hobby.
join a softball league, look for a hiking group/mountain biking group.
You're 20 don't hold back its a great time in life.
You have plenty of time to find a woman that will attempt to change you and hate all your friends.

focus on find friends before trying to even going to look for a GF. Girls don't wanna date a dude with no friends so I would think that should be the highest thing on your list.

I didnt just end six years with one girl the last one was just a year and a half. I mean I went from one girl to another right after the other. I dated one girl for a few months then next 3 yr then dumped her and dated the last for a yr and a half. It might sound a little sad at my age but I'm happy doing nothing as long as I got a girl curled up on my arm. Plus they tend to be my bestfriend and the main person I hang with I'm simple when it comes to that kinda stuff.

That was kinda the point of the thread after this break up I realized I have been friends with and dated the same some group and I'm trying to figure out how someone who isn't a social butterfly can meet new people.

I know but you keep saying how you want a gf and say how you are fine with just hanging with them.

You need to get out and be around people. School, clubs, parties, church, out doors groups, sports, all kinds of stuff. You need to get some guys to kick it with and hang. Meeting dudes to chill with is always kinda awkward. (wow that sounds so gay) You best bet is trying to try to find an outdoors group or sports club.

thats where i met my girlfriend. she sat rite behind me in World Lit and had a bf at the time we met (no i didnt break them up:rolleyes:). but when they split we started chatting for a while, one thing led to another and now almost 7 months later i couldnt be happier.

i think the thing is not to try and find a gf, but talk to several girls and see which relationship grows the best. i was kinda in ur situation, i just ended a 1 1/2 year long relationship with a girl not even 3 months before. so i was just enjoyin the single life. playin the field :D

A good place to meet good women is book stores. Read what you like, hang out, watch the area where you get your books.

Eye contact with someone twice... Talk to them...

Bars are stupid and don't work. People you meet in bars are people looking to meet people in bars.

Do things you enjoy and wait for connections to happen. This automatically puts you around people with common interests.
