Looking good! If you have contacts there, ask how their winter started. If things froze hard for a week or two before snow insulated things, you'll enjoy fewer blackflies (no-see-ums, or no-hear-ums) and other nuisance flying, biting insects. I'm sure the permafrost on the AlCan through Northway has thawed since I retired out of SouthCentral AK 11 years ago, so the roadbed may be more stable again. (Permafrost heaves in 2004 made the drive interesting and difficult maintenance for Alaska DOT. The district supervisor talked during a ferry trip while he and his family were on their way home to Valdez, and I to Cordova.
Enjoy the trip, relax and have fun. Oh, and pick up some Tom Sadowski postcards.

:canada: Whitehorse: Yukon-Beringia Museum is a great stop, with the Yukon Transportation Museum next door, and the DC-3 on a pivot as the wind indicator. Takhini River Hot Spings Retreat has wall tent cabins and pool at the end of the Takhini River Road pavement just beyond the Alaska end of the city. Alaska Milepost is a great guide, though the editor will tell you that the locations of temporary facilities will have been recorded during their travels the year earlier so some things may not be accurate. Ooh, also on Takhini River Road, the coffeehouse and cafe is fantastic! That retirement trip, my daughters wheeled the '07 Malibu, while I drove a 26' UHaul through the flooded Peace River country, so I've never stopped in Hudson's Hope for the best burger on the AlCan, but always overnight at Chetwynd, chainsaw carving capital of the world.

    Have a blast!

That's a rad looking build, should be a great time! Don't forget the normal preventative maintenance items.

We are departing on 15 June for a 30-40 day cross country trip. Departing San Diego, CA for New Bern, NC. Will probably spend 3+ weeks on the west side of the Continental Divide, then 1+ week for the rest of the trip.
