I just kinda hopped around this thread and skipped my way to the last page, but do any of you SC guys ever hit up Santiago Peak in the Santa Ana mountains?

There's snow up there right now. Gates are locked though. Not sure when they'll open them up again.

Great place to get the trucks dirty if you want, or just go for the view. I see a bunch of you are from San Diego. It'd be a little bit of a drive for you but well worth it IMO.

i know its too far for you to come down to the South bay, but I am headed out to off road and get muddy on Sunday morning. Any Chula Vista residents are welcomed! Let me know. Will be there for a couple of hours in the A.M. Im planning to get muddy, then hopefully take a pic and post. :D

Definitely. My 2wd Ranger had no problems as long as I stayed on the main trail. If you're up for a bit of a challenge, you can take some various side trails that spur off from the main road. It's a great place overall. Not really challenging, but it's local (to me) and there's some great views.

Oh, and when it's dry up there, gates are open 24 hours a day so night runs are pretty sweet too!
