I have the code for a knock sensor that I've cleared a couple of times and it keeps coming back so it's time. I plan on doing them both and the sensor harness as well. Anything else I should do while I've got the intake off?

Do a search on the forum and there’s a thread with part list. There’s a video on YT also with parts list. I did mine during the summer and I replaced all seals/gasket for air plenum and intake, all gaskets for fuel injectors, cleaned injectors too. Changed spark plugs, ignition wires & coil, heater core gasket. Pretty much every I took out that had a gasket or rubber seal I replaced. Good luck

Great suggestions, thank you both. The valve covers and plugs were done about 15k miles ago so I think those should still be good, but I'll take a look. I'll take the injectors out to clean them and replace the seals. I plan on cleaning the IAC and throttle body while I've got them off too. Any idea what size all the vacuum hoses are back there? Should probably replace those when it's a little easier.

I finally have the time to do this job so I went to my local Toyota dealer to get the knock sensors, harness and all of the other gaskets/seals/orings mentioned above. Parts guy said "they show Matsushita or Nipponsenso brands for the sensors. Which brand do you have?" I haven't pulled them out yet so I don't know. Surely the brands are interchangeable if you replace them all at the same time right?

I asked the same about the knock sensors brand. No response here.

Replace all vacuum and heater hoses. The small vacuum hose is 9099992008 in bulk. Heater hoses are all 5/16" ID. Some vacuum hoses are also 5/16" ID.

When you take out injectors, replace the aluminum gaskets (6?) on the fuel pipe union banjo bolts, and the O ring on the fuel pressure regulator.

I went with Rockauto sensors. Dealer wanted a lot of $$$. Haven't had any issues 3 months after I replaced them.

I'd be doing valve cover gaskets and cam plugs of they're questionable

I don't see a throttle body gasket on there, can't remember if it has to come off from the upper plenum

Just like b_r_o said 23803D, since you’re there might as well change valve cover gaskets and plugs, also 17177

Valve cover gaskets are not that old but I'll redo them again if I'm going to be in that deep. I'll get two 23803D and 17177 ordered.

There’s another gasket that was leaking on mine, between the valley I think heater core hose gasket 25628 has two bolts holding it

Following up and looking for some advice. Took the truck to a local independent shop to handle the labor. They are good about me bringing my own parts and they will install. Got the sensors, wire harness and assorted gaskets and seals replaced. Also cleaned the fuel injectors and replaced those orings. Drove the truck for less than 20 miles and the knock sensor code for bank 2 is back. Took it back to the shop and they tested all the voltage going to and coming from the sensors to the ECU. All is good going into the ECU. So. they think that the ECU was the issue and not the sensors. They think that Toyota had an ECU update for these trucks way back in the day that it may need and that could possibly be a fix. My thought is that if the ECU is bad, it's bad and an update is at best a temporary fix. My question is does a bad ECU make sense? If so, should I try find a salvaged ECU or would it be worth it to go to ebay for a refurbished unit?
