It is not going to be an iTunes issue but bluetooth/phone. Have you updated your OS to the latest version? Does this problem happen when the phone is plugged in with the USB cord?

I have 4000+ songs from my iTunes library on a mini stick. Just leave it plugged in and don't worry about the bluetooth hassel.

I haven’t had your exact problem but I have noticed that my iPod will stop working occasionally and i’ll have to do a hard reset on it before it will work again. It’s plugged in via the USB port and I never had this prob on my previous truck. I previously thought my iPod was just getting old but now i’m not sure. I’ll get my wife to try it in her car and see what happens.

BTW, how did you load your iTunes on to a flash drive? I tried but couldn’t figure it out...

How do you get the mini drive to work? I had a regular sized one that worked fine, tried to switch to the mini one and it wouldn't show up.

I think I have had this issue once in the past year of owning the truck. It went away when I restarted the truck.

First off, I am a Windows guy. You go into File Explorer, find your iTunes folder and find all your music in the media folder. (no need to use iTunes for anything. Go directly to where your music is stored on the hard drive on your computer) All of your albums and artists are there. You can simply copy the folders you want onto the flash drive. Plug it into the USB port in the truck and select USB from the source menu. All the artist, song, album, and art tags are read by the truck.

I'm using a Sandisk 32G mini stick. It's worked perfectly for over 3 years. I removed that little rubber flap over the USB port and you don't even know it's there.

    Hope this helps,

    G.

Ive noticed that "sometimes" if I'm playing music via bluetooth and then plug my phone in to charge via the cable and USB port my music will only play when I switch to the USB input. Sometimes it just pauses for a few seconds and then I can press play again while staying in bluetooth.

When you experience your issue, are you plugged into charge?

Oh, and do you have the Toyota Entune app installed on your phone?
I get notifications of updates that come out. I don't know if that is from the entune app itself or from the head unit.

I do not have entune installed, it happens when unplugged, sometimes by itself, but happens a lot when I skip to the next track.

considering that Toyota is one of the last Auto manufacturers to load CarPlay I would bet that Toyota is last on the priority list to fix bugs. :-/

Are these songs downloaded on your phone or are you streaming from the cloud ? if your cel signal is crap that can effect the download.

When it happens to me, I lose connectivity completely. I just hold the power button on the radio and it reboots in about 15 seconds then reconnects. Sucks to do but safer than trying to repair my phone while driving
