Hello everyone I'm obviously new to the forum and tacomas. I am finally in a place in my life where I could afford the truck I want. So yesterday I purchased an 08 prerunner with 55k on the clock. I'm very excited to have a nice truck to tow my little race car around with.

The truck does have one issue that is bugging the heck outta me. There is some kind of knocking coming from the serpentine belt area. I derailed the belt twice this morning and cranked the truck up. Both times the noise went away. I'm a pretty qualified mechanic and understand that there are very common failures out there and people passionate about the vehicle will most likely know what the problem is. Any sugestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks again everyone I can't wait to start Modding this truck with yalls help!

Thanks for the welcomes so far guys. The noise is the first thing on my list to fix. Then ill repair the overhead display. I will be buying some of the badass weather tech floormats and some good seat covers. Then I'm going to have to get some step bars of some kind so my little girl can get in and out if the truck. There's tons more I want to do but it'll just take time and some guidance.

I think the noise is the bearings inside the alternator. I used a mechanics stethoscope today at work and it sounded like the majority of the noise was coming from the back of the alternator body. I'm going to remove it and take it to my buddies starter and alternator shop. Ill keep y'all updated.
