    Modifications That Actually Help
    Light All-Terrain Tires
Keep them the same size as stock or something very close to it, and you’ll add both puncture-resistance and off-road traction. Punctures are no joke off-road, and are why a set of light all-terrains are the single best modification you can make. Consider these essential. They’ll still increase your unsprung weight, and therefore will have a small impact on performance, braking, fuel economy, and ride quality, so look for an option like the Maxxis Bravo 771 or Yokohama Geolander that are as light as possible. If you drive a larger, heavier vehicle, then a heavy duty all-terrain may be a better option. The BF Goodrich K02 remains an excellent option.

Here's are some pretty close figures to what some of these tires weigh that were mentioned earlier for the 265/70/17:

    - Firestone Destination AT: 38 LB
    - Hankook Dyna Pro AT: 38.6 LB
    - Good Year Wrangler Trail Runner: 39 LB
    - Nitto Terra Grapplers G2: 40 LB
    - Toyo Open Country AT II: 41 LB
    - Yokoham Geolanders: 41
    - Discover Cooper AT3: 42 LB
    - Good Year Wrangler Authority: 43
    - Good Year Duratrac: 44 LB
    - Falken Wildpeak A/T3: 47 LB

I'm looking for a street/Baja style look. Are there any good, cheap tires that would fit that?

I'm just going back with 265/70/16 NTGs since they are 6 lbs lighter each than the Sumitomo Encounter AT's in my size & they are $650 for all 4 mount/bal/rd haz......boring maybe, but my 4 cyl doesn't need anything heavier or wider and they hold up well.

My local tire shop just told me whatever I buy they'd sell to me at cost, since I bring them all my delivery vans from work. They quoted me $130/each on Nitto G2s. That's cheaper than anywhere online I'm seeing. No charge to install my spacers and $25/wheel mount and balance. I'm getting so excited!

They did agree that Michelins are the best of the best...

    Same as everybody else...
I like my Firestone Destination ATs. Good tire, quiet on the pavement and grippy enough for the farm dirt and gravel roads I run.

I totally understand. I'm in the same boat, everytime I think I've made a decision I change my mind again. My truck stays on pavement 99.8% of the time and I'm looking for a highway tire that doesn't look so boring. So far I'm leaning towards Toyo Open Country H/T but I'm probably a month away at this time.

Be sure to let us know what your final decision is and post pictures.

!?! Mine are awesome in the rain. Those 4 open channels you see circling the tires are for channeling water.

Can you say bullshit? I’ve run them before and like 99.9% of other reviews they are amazing rain tires.
