^^ that's an astute observation. I agree with you in saying the Miches retain a "like new" tread pattern throughout the life of the usable tread.

Ended up going with Nitto Terra Grappler G2s and 1” Bora spacers with the 2017 4Runner wheels. Couldn’t be happier. Drives like a Cadillac. $700 for tires $215 for the spacers $335 for the wheels. Pretty happy for $1250 total.

I ended up going with the falken, it was that or the defenders so I decided to try something new.

Nice. They're awesome looking and sounds like they get good reviews. Let us know. I'm diggin' the Nittos so far!

Thanks for the write-ups and pics, guys. I've run Defenders on my sedans for years, but was really curious if that quality translated to truck tires. Sounds like they do, overall. Any gains or losses in MPG's with the defenders?

Apparently, mine still has the stock tires on it from when it was new in 2007 - Dunlop Grandtrek.

Actually you get a new shiny man card reserved for those with enough sense in their manly head to choose function over form in something as important as tires.
If lesser men give you too much grief for not having useless extra chunks of rubber on your sidewalls you could always do this sidewall mod.

Kinda surprised, but going up to 265/70/17 I had to trim the plastic in the front of the wheel well. It was rubbing pretty good. All better now though. Still loving my tire choice. Thanks for all the suggestions, but Michelins were too damn expensive for my budget. Maybe next time.

    Like, so many.
I have the NTG G2s. They are great on the road and I've dome some off roading with them, but nothing extreme. They do look good, but I also with they were more aggressive. I MAY go with Ridge Grapplers next time, but I have no complaints about the NTGs. Let me know if you want some pics or anything.

I'm enjoying my G2s so far! Very comfortable ride. Minimal noise for an AT. Nice handling in the massive rain we've had the last few days. Just enough mean but not too much.

Possibly for the next several summers I'll be running these Firestone TransForce HT Load rating (E). These will definitely keep you civilized on wet roads. haha.
I paid $400.00 this set of 4 (new). They were cheap, they are pretty quiet, just not a sharp looking tire.

There used to be a lot of love here for Hankook Dynapro ATMs... Quiet on highway, great in snow, sand, mud, and cheap to buy...

@DavidK That's my winter tire. They are good. Again I only purchased those on wheels all for $275.00.
