This is true, but even moreso a more valid invitation if there are valuables in plain sight that would be thieves would be inclined to take.

Absolutely, but probably depending on the state. When I lived in MO, I got a note from my eye doctor. You then go get your windows tinted, then you go to the Highway Patrol where they will test your tint and confirm it is within their limits and they will apply a sticker to your windshield. Pretty easy to do for those states that don't allow tint on the front windows.

Check out my build thread (Beginning of Money Pit)
WA state is a open carry state. When I was stationed there (2008-2011) It would be deemed transporting a fire arm if you unloaded it and had the mags in a different area of the vehicle. They never gave me any trouble with that. But its officers discretion as well..

Im too lazy to read all this but heres the linky....http://apps.leg.wa.gov/RCW/default.aspx?cite=9.41.070

Hard as it may be to believe, unless you're a law enforcement officer of some kind, I believe you're suppose to leave it at home.

That sucks. But, IMHO its not real smart to leave firearms in a your truck unattended. I never ever leave my truck with my firearms in them unless I can directly watch my truck while I'm away from it.

You're not getting through the door... period. It sucks, but true.

You live in TN, you may have noticed all your life that people have gun racks in their pickups with firearms on them.... nothing out of the ordinary.

... Try that in Massachusetts and see how long you can drive around.

Did you have a trigger lock in place before it was stolen?

    Removed the damn stickers!
What would be the point of carrying a weapon with a trigger lock on it? Nevermind. Just noticed you're from MA.

    No explanation necessary.

Since you are military you can get USAA. They are about as good as insurance gets.

If the truck wasn't "broken Into" ( no damage ). How did they get in? Unlocked?

The truck doesn't lock by itself when you get out.

If you left it unlocked with that much $$$ inside why are you blaming the insurance company? I wouldn't pay for it either.

I'm not a big fan of insurance companies, but Geico has always done me right. I have been a Geico customer since ~ 1977 or so.

To the guy who left me the comment..." i didn't want to steal it but i need money to feed my family, im reeally sorry man" hmmm if your serious well i hope you got enough money to feed your family, but here is the deal, you had another option....

Had you left a note or knocked on my door and said look i was thinking of stealing your shit out of your truck since the doors open/unlocked i would have paid you the 750$ i had in my wallet for your honesty... but you didn't.

just know that you probably sold that weapon to a person who is prohibited from owning weapons for a reason. knowing he (more likely than others) is willing to use that weapon on just about anything or anyone. maybe he robbed some person or took some ones life with that weapon. i hope you sleep well, but hey god bless you friend.

now if that was a joke... that's a pretty cruel joke, and i tip my hat to you...

Just read some most of this and yes it sucks totally and thanks for your service but nowadays, who trusts even leaving stuff like that in their car in their own driveway much less in a hotel parking lot in the 4th largest city in America? The ultragauge, maybe but really, your gun and a hi dollar camera, both of which are certainly highly pawnable things. Please learn from this and error on the side of safety and trust nothing or no one in this respect, wherever you are. Might of missed it but hopefully the gun has been reported stolen? Wouldn't want that shit coming back on me from whatever it may be used for. Again, sorry for the situation and no, not everyone in this city would do that shit but I just don't leave myself open to any kind of opportunity for anyone. Leave nothing in your vehicle and lock and relock doors when traveling. I've lived here all my life and act like everyone is out to take my shit at all times. Hell, I lock my doors, set alarm and that's after the steering wheel lock is in place and the unsawable unfreezeable unshootable brake or clutch pedal lock is also in place. I had my whole 82 Toyota truck stolen with liability only long time ago and luckily got it back without much damage. I've been on high alert ever since. And it was locked and didn't have any valuables in it either. Guessing that's where it came from. Sure don't want this one taken either, even with full coverage. Good luck and best to the family and completing your service safely.
