So in your opinion what's the max recommended notch for 5100 (already installed for leveling) to prevent cv/ball joint issues? Also do you think the OE uca and lca could be retrofitted with uniballs as an alternative to spending $1000 on arms. I intend on doing icon progressives in the rear and adding 5100s in the rear as well and going with some 265/75 open country R/T

I have a company vehicle so my truck may get driven once or twice a week tops. My off-roading consists of hunting mostly but I do like to "play" a bit on the camp trails lol

If you want to use the stock coils, I wouldn't go past the 1.75" setting. After that you'll get poor ride characteristics from the stock spring. Adding a 1/4" plate to both sides will get you just over 2". Your CVs and steering components will be fine, but you will probably get the droning diff vibe and might want to do the ECGS bushing.

I wouldn't do uniballs. They're high maintenance and you can get better articulation with the LR UCAs for that money (or less) and they have a grease fitting on the ball joint. The only thing I would do to the lowers is pull the alignment hardware (mark it and do one bolt at a time so you don't need to get a new alignment), and anti-seize the hell out of them. The main reason I just did a full refresh on my front suspension is that I had to cut out my LCAs due to being seized.

    OK @58 Siesta

To recap, hold off on the tires for now, get some 5100's to level it out, and once I've done that save get tires? What size do you think I should get, Currently at 265/65/r17.

I apologize if I missed something, thread kind of blew up :)

You're welcome. It gives me a lot more confidence in the tailgate. I have also been looking at various suspension lifts. For what it's worth, I'm leaning toward purchasing the entire TRD Pro suspension kit. This kit should raise the front about 1.75 inches. In addition, I would be installing an ICON aal to raise the rear and preserve rake. From what I've read on TW, this route is not the most cost effective solution, but I like this kit because it provides a mild lift up front, and it's an OEM package. Good luck, and have fun!

Depending on the tires you choose, you might be able to do a set of load c 265/70/17and 5100s for the front for about $1K

The OP doesn't really seem to know what direction the build is going. This isn't a " what's the largest tire..." thread.

I'm glad I never went to wide tires. I like how they look, but I'm glad I never did any cutting. Many people are happy to do it. It's just not something I suggest for first mods when people aren't sure what they want.

I vote for A whole host of Mobtown Offroad products.

    1. Tailgate Reinforcements
    2. Skid plates
    3. Rock sliders
    4. Bumpers

But I guess I'm a little bit biased.

its not a big deal to cut some plastic, actually usually lifting and adding tires to any vehicle usually involves cutting at some point. its the norm. Modifying is modifying... buy once cry once.

I'm considering the same setup, but just starting with the TRD Pro suspension, then go with an AAL and maybe 1/4" spacers upfront at a later time. Still doing research though.

Thanks for all your help man. I really appreciate it. Sorry I didn't respond 'till today. Had a weekend out on the lake :)

And yeah, not for sure where I'm going with it. Although I'm definitely thinking new tires are going to be first on the list. Got a little bit of rain here in KS today, and tires broke loose a couple of times just trying to move forward from a stop light :burnrubber:

Thanks for the advice! It's mostly a city truck for the moment. But there are some trails in the area that I hope to eventually be on, I will be checking out the website then for sure :)

My bumpers only seem to get damaged in the city. Damn bump parking jobs. Haha.
