My back panel got backed into and totally smoked today. This is the latest in a countless number of rock and door dings over the last few months. I just can't take this anymore.

I've pretty much decided to start looking for a good shop to bring the truck to for a complete Line-X ultra coating after I get all these dents pulled.

Someone already did this.... didn't look as horrible as I thought. He did mention though to defiantly buy the UV protection stuff to limit fading.

I'd probably only do it on a fully dedicated trail rig myself. I'm debating about just getting some better, stronger clear and shot several times over the factory stuff. The main issue is the weak clear, more than the weak paint.

As for weight.... I doubt it'd really affect much of anything you'd ever notice.... it's a truck not a sports car. Center of gravity would remain exactly the same if it's sprayed all over the truck...

Here is the link for that truck that was rhino lined... http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/2nd-gen-builds/36806-my-rhino-build-pics.html

Black or that very dark green are the only colors that look good imo.

I bet it's a lot. WAAAAY more prep work and the coating is more expensive than paint I'd imagine.

Its about the same as a mid-range paint-job. Prep is the same as hitting it with a paint gun as far as I know.

 WOW! That looks a lot better than I thought it would. Did you opted for the UV protection? They told me that it adds a bit of a shine to the finish. Either way, good choice. Take some more pictures of the truck all put together. Some pictures around the edges would be nice (i.e. door jams, hood, fenders etc.). I'd like to see a silver one? Those tundras looked bad ass!

Yeah those look awesome...the thing with linex is that it is really hard and i think if you hit something out on the trail there would be no give and it may even crack. Not really the expert on linex so i don't know what type of coats they have but when i seen my buddy's bed i noticed it was a really hard substance. Rhino liner (tuff grip coat) is flexible and i prefer it for that reason. however you could also say that an object may gouge my coat before it would gouge a linex coat but i think the linex might crack?? not sure though. I can hammer my door panels and they wont dent. it pops out faster than you can dent it in every time and it never leaves a crease like it would if you punched a regular door.

As for weight, the Rhino Lining Place i went to said a bed is like 30-40 pounds...so its a negligible weight.

I think more and more people will end up doing this whether they use rhino or linex or some other brand or type. I dont consider it a "jump on the band wagon" type of thing. I hope more people do it. It just makes sense and is way cheaper than a good paint job would run you. Its worth it in the long run for us who abuse our trucks to some extent. and the body will age well for us:)

Youre making a good decision. enjoy it and post pics when your done man!

Thanks for the input! If there was any color choice with Rhino I might think about it, but Line-X is the only option that doesn't force me into flat black or dull.
