Hey all I'm lost don't know where to start and lost my directions while moving... I was given a send of pods from my Secret Santa for my hood! I ordered the brackets from caliraised as well as the harness. I ordered an aftermarket switch for the center console. I also bought a fuse tap. I remember the directions for the switch saying I needed a diode I think? Is this true? Also the caliraised harness had a cheap switch so I'm gonna cut that off and splice it to the new switch if that is possible. Last thing should I cut the connectors off the harness for the pod lights? they didn't come with a connector just the black and red wires hanging out.. feel free to help me or belittle me.. at this point I just want to figure out what to do since I'm not very strong in these areas of work...

No use for a diode... you can if you want but not necessary.

The switch you bought looks much nicer than what it came with and will make a cleaner look installed, I'd for sure use that switch. 100% possible and do-able.

Cutting off the connectors is your personal preference. Do you want to have the lights as plug and play in case you want to remove them later for whatever reason? Or are you ok with hard wiring them so they more permanent and have to cut the wires if you choose to remove them later. Your call!

you're such an idiot...only a dumbass would lose their instructions. Moron.

...I went with the belittling route, as you offered. :)

Good luck, I suck with wiring too.

From what I re-call caliraised harnesses come with one or two connector ends depending on single or dual set up. Don't cut your pods plugs off. I have a couple connectors from a led pod install that required cutting them off. You can have them if needed.

First off, good luck. Take your time. I never did any wiring work prior to doing my light bar and from have went on to do other projects. It gets easier as you do more. I found a few helpful videos on YouTube. Seeing an example helped a lot more for me than reading info on an issue had no prior knowledge on. Good luck with install.

Even better if you have someone who can show you the ropes. It's definitely a good skill to know and understand if you plan on adding any additional lighting or what nots.

I would also suggest that if the relay is not a weather resistant/marine relay, it be mounted somewhere that it will not get wet from weather or washing the engine bay.

    Not to complicate things...

but something else to ask yourself is if you want these lights to have power 24/7 so that you can turn them on whether the key is on or not. Keep in mind this leaves the potential of you forgetting them on and coming out to a dead battery.

Or have the relay wired to an accessory wire so that the relay only closes while the key is in accessory or engine running.

I only want them to run when I hit the switch

    Right...

But you can wire that switch to operate only with the key in accessory/engine running or you can have it so the switch turns the lights on whether you have the key in the ignition or not.

Not sure if that's more clear? Clearer?

Most people, myself included, prefer for the light to operate only if the key is in accessory or engine running...

That way if you ever bump the switch by accident and not notice, you don't come out to a dead battery cuz the lights were on all night

    Yissir!

The diagram above is labelled as black, green, red 1, and red 2...

So since you have black, green, red, and blue... look at the diagram that came with your switch and see which they have labelled as the equivalent to the diagram.

i.e. (Example and example only) - your switch might be different
Your switch black = windor's diagrams black
Your switch green = windor's diagrams green
    Your switch red = windor's diagrams red1
    Your switch blue = windor's diagrams red2

    Verify that ^

Got them on and working! The switch doesn't seem to be lit unless it's pushed in and even then it's only like one side of the switch lights up. But I'm happy that I was able to do it! Thanks for all the help and patients everyone!IMG_0426.jpg
