Should be fine painting them when together. Any paint you put on the faces will get rubbed away by the leafs flexing anyway. And if you do thick coats the center bolt can come loose as it rubs off

Old hot rodder told me bout his loose spring episode. Ever since then I just paint the leafs together. It seems to hold up ok. Touch up as needed.

When I first installed mine I got like 3” lift until they broke in and I put some weight in the bed. So don’t be alarmed if your stink buggin when you install. It’ll settle though. Mine did anyway

Thanks for the info. So I will need to extend the rear brake line because I'm lifting over 1.75"? I just bought new stock length stainless brake lines for the front and the single in the rear. I wonder if the 1.75" inch lift in the front will cause a problem for the new lines?

The rust is superficial you can get it removed with a pressure wash and some degreaser and wiping a little Wd-40 on em. These leafs are really decades above the other brands.

    What shackles are you running?

I've got some that are like 1" lift that I've been running on my stock leafs for a while now. Hoping to use those with the J59s for ~2.5" lift.

If you crawl/articulate you need extended rear lines but if only parking lot pimpin you don’t need it at all up to 3”.

I may sandbag it down to a 2" lift even at the beginning.

You will need to, these give more lift than one might want at first. Sandbags are a great idea. The company will even re arch for you if they flatten. Maybe you know this but the grandfather did Clyde’s ride as in Bonnie & Clyde’s car. Their machines are around 100 years old or more, but they put out the best quality imo.

Eh, for driving sure. But when my truck was up on a lift with 2" of lift that stock line was tight. Like really tight. Went and extended it just to be safe.

I better get an ext line. Otherwise, I would be worried all of the time.

    4 run, 2 don't
Liking the input I'm seeing, but surprised so few people have J59's and carry weight on a daily.

Though some custom Alcan's does sound appealing.

Its a shame Wheelers doesnt offer their 3 and 5 pack leafs anymore. The 3 packs sounded like theyd fit my needs perfectly.

Shit you're right; I remember seeing them when I was back and forth between Wheeler's and Dakar's.
