Here is what mine looks like with around 500lbs.

When it's mty with just the shell it has a slight rake. I put the extended brake line on mine just to be on the safe side.

Here's mine . I have less than 50lbs in the bed most of the time . When they have about 100 or so they really shine.
Empty bed . And next to a stock on slightly sagging with 265 70. Vs j59 with 265 75's.

This is unsettling; thinking I could get by out in SoCal without rust is no longer a "hope not" but an "expectation of"; they will rust.
I was planning spray painting some high-temp rustoleum (not that I knew that would be appropriate), but once I started disassembly of the Dakars/OME Nitro, I just kept pushing the project from that point 'til completion.

Upon the first side I did (driver), I noticed a well rusted "seat" (dowel?) for the lower shock mount (rear driver side). I also noticed there were greaseable shackles installed (I believe eveything was part of an OME kit, extended brake line, exhaust hangar bracket included).
Because of this, I bought $393 worth of two sets of OEM shackles (with rubber bushings) and OEM shock seats. It was a bummer because of the expense, but the peace of mind is worth it.
    This is my daily driver.
Is this based on experience? It's possible I glossed over your testimony of having J59s, but if you don't have them, let us know.
It is often advisable when installing lifted suspension in the rear to also install an extended brake line, but as someone else mentioned, unless you are flexing your rear suspension and using it only as a daily, I (personal opinion] don't believe it is necessary (unless you go 3+ inches).
Before starting this project with the J59s; I wasn't sure what a shackle was; I had only read about it. When I saw the dirty grimy grease fittings I realized what they were. I too am staying with stock shackles.
    I like it!
Also, where di you find your shell?

Thank you for the post. What type of springs do you have in the front?

Thread jacking my own thread but I've got a quick question; have you compared the Icon's to any progressive setup?

I ask because I run digressive in the back (Bilstein 5100) and progressive up front (Fox 2.5); I like the way the back of the truck feels when going off road and hitting bumps/large rocks. Really, I just think the front of my truck needs some weight but I'm not planning on adding any...

    Could it be your springs?

You referring to the front or rear?

Fox 2.5 coil overs don't provide an option for different spring rates; I assume that Fox would assume no added weight if using their coil overs.

Front* sorry. Okay, Didnt know that though. I was going to suggest maybe getting springs with a lower spring rate. Are they 600lb springs?

Because I have the same setup. 5100s in the rear with King 2.5s in the front... but for me it feels the opposite, I feel like the rear needs a little more weight lol

    No I haven't.
What do you not like about the front. I was actually thinking about going to a progressive setup.
My front was always kinda stiff .I removed my swaybar and things got a lot better. I might just try and have my shocks revalved.
I'm running icons in the back to and there actually pretty good. The front is to but you really have to be going really fast and then I think I run out of travel. But taking off the swaybar really made offroad a million times better. And removing the stupid ash tray, man that thing rattling drove me nuts.

I've yet to remove my sway bar completely, only because I can't for the life of me, remove one of the allen-keyed/bolts.

I love the way the truck feels on the road (even with e-rated skinnies), but I feel like it could "rebound" a bit better when I'm off road.

Maybe I just need to take it slower while off road?

You could always get them revalved.

Yes I have Deavers with an added leaf but after years of experience they only surface rust in between the leafs & that can be fixed with a good scrub down, and wd-40. The rust never got to a point where it’s serious and like others you can give them a small spray of black paint for added protection, no biggie.

I have an 04 double cab, deaver j59s in the back with oem king 2.5s with the resi. I also have firestone airbags with daystar airbag cradles thinking the deavers would b real soft for hauling stuff, ive had them on for almost a year and they are still so stiff i topout on any bump. The airbags r completely empty too, i even have a shell with a bedmat and 6ft lentil in the back that probly weighs 300lbs. Anybody else have a problem with them being way too stiff? It feels like they will never break in, with all that extra weight im still stink bugging and my oem kings up front probly give close to 2” of lift
