rotating tires this weekend, have two 3-ton Jack stands, each 1.5 tons (3000 lbs) capacity... planning on jacking truck up and putting jack stands in the front and rear differential... will these stands hold up one side of a 4500 lb truck... so I can rotate my tires... with no issues.
or do I need stronger jacks stands.

only one side at a time....areas in red.aviary-image-1601510835311~2.jpg

well 6-ton jack stands would be ideal but I'm asking about the 3 tons for now.

3 tons would be 6,000 pounds, so they SHOULD be fine. That's null and void if those are chinese tons though....

As long as they get your tires in the air they have plenty of weight capacity to hold you truck. The problem is you wont be able to cross rotate your tire with only 2 tires in the air at a time.

There is a difference between an inch and a Chinese inch, a pound and a Chinese pound, maximum amperage and Chinese maximum amperage, etc. They have a tendency to over rate pretty much everything because bigger number sell. Why buy the disposable tool 9000 when you can buy the disposable tool 9001?

just lifting enough to remove tires and put the front in the back and the back in the front that's it... I would also put Tacoma factory Jack in the middle frame

Jack it up, slam it on the stands and give it a rambunctious shake before you get under it. After that, you're good. Be smart, don't keep limbs under it. You're fine

ETA, OP when I rotate I just use a jack on the frame. No stands or nothing. YMMV ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Probably fine even if they're made in china. These things aren't rocket science. It's rated capacity is 6000 lbs and you are loading it with a max of say 2250. They probably also have a safety factor of 1.4 at a minimum. Absolute worst case you are maybe 25% of failure load. So I guess...do you feel they can support something like 25% of what they say they're rated for?

I'd test it out. Lower the jack slowly. Once loaded they shouldn't creek or groan under the weight. For swapping tires it's probably not a big deal, but if you are crawling under the truck while on stands maybe go for a more reliable brand you would trust your life with.

^^ This. This should be done pretty much anytime you jack up a vehicle.

I think OEM is limited by mechanical advantage. So even if u wanted to lift a Boeing, u couldn't physically do it. Keep in mind that's an off the cuff statement.

You should be fine. That said, Harbor Freight has recalled a lot of their jack stands.

Jack stands on the rear axle and jack in the center mount on the front makes rotations fast. Don't use the OEM jack for this or at all if possible. It's really small and take about 432345 rotations of the three piece handle to get truck in the air and then truck falls off the jack when the rims rusted to hub and donkey kick it for the 34th time at 6am in a damp gas station lot.
