Why bother? Pretty much every tire shop will rotate for free. Hardly worth the hassle.

I hear ya. I do all my own rotations.

One time I bought new snow tires for a car at Discount Tire and had them mount them. In the spring I tried to take them off to install my summer tires and discovered they had CROSS THREADED TWO of the lugs on one wheel. I was fuming!
I dropped all my tools and went right down there. Once there I tried to not be too pissy with the guy behind the counter but it was tough. I told him: There's no way your employee powered those lugs on the studs cross threaded and didn't realize it (they were only half way down the stud) AND THEN he sent me out the door like that! So, being a little car with four lugs it was driven all winter with only two lugs holding the wheel on.
While they were cutting the studs off the guy said to me: You change your own tires?? Why didn't you let us do it? I said: THIS IS WHY!!!! He wasn't happy with my response. LOL

I know these things happen and it's hard to find good employees. It's just the nature of the beast............but I change my own tires.

One time I was at a tire place and they mounted half my tires on another customers wheels! I didn't notice till I got home because they were on the passenger side, took several days to get everything straight.

I rotate my tires every time I drive. :rimshot:

4 hour wait due to Covid.........really. I guess the process of rotating tires has gotten more time consuming and labor intensive. Stupid excuse.

You could do the rotation 1 tire at a time using the spare tire in less than 4 hours. Find another shop.

Unless death is imminent never support a vehicle by the pumpkin. It puts all sorts of stress on parts not designed for the load.

And using a single support, in the middle, makes you a candidate for the Darwin Award.

The cost of two more jack stands isn’t worth the risk. Or, if you are fearless, imagine what it’s going to cost if the vehicle tips and smacks the ground without a tire in place.

about pepboys... don't think it has anything directly to do with covid! unless there under staffed! just that there overloaded with too many customers doing other things. and just for a tire rotation I have to wait hours becuase of five or six customers ahead of me...ill do it myself

Pumpkin is the center section of the axle that houses the diff. Even with jackstands I still always leave the jack in place as a backup.

I can just imagine how much of a pain in the ass it would be to work on anything in a seated position. Full height or nothing.

I'm so tired of the Covid bs. I had it, tested positive and had a sore throat for a day. A bunch of people I know had it and no major issues.

Some people in here need reminded that most jack stands are rated in pairs unless they specifically say otherwise.

HF jack stands (3 ton and 6 ton) are 1.5 ton and 3 ton per stand.

Not that it really matters on a Tacoma, a single 3 ton stand rated at 1.5 tons is more than enough for one corner of your truck. Most people use heavier duty stands not for the weight capacity, but for the height.

well the Jack stands I bought are rated at 4 tons each in fact the side says 8,800 lb Max... but I bought them more for the height the extra weight is comforting
