This has been asked before, but not answered, or at least I couldn't find the answer. This is a plastic frame insert at the front jacking point. The FSM cautions, "When setting the vehicle on the attachments of the swing arms, be careful to avoid the resin component ..." This advice was clearly ignored by the dealership that performed the free service on my '19 Tacoma. One is smashed flat (in the photo) and the other mostly broken off. I'd like to a) find out what it is, and b) replace them but I cannot find anything on the parts diagrams that look like these.Tacoma frame.jpg

Good question. I always wondered about those myself.

Don't see that warning in my manual so maybe it is for the stuff they spray inside the frame now. I had my treated per service campaign and I believe they used similar looking plastic plugs in other parts of the frame. I wouldn't worry too much as long as its in there.

it is a drain cover for the frame drain holes. prevents bugs from clogging the hole, so if water were to get in the boxed frame section, it can get out. most people try to jack from there, then end up crushing them. they are inexpensive to replace, if you need to. Ski

Thanks so much! I wondered if it was some kind of drain, but I would have never figured out the specific part# from the parts diagrams.

It’s the drain for the front boxed section. It designed with a little snorkel that sticks up into the frame as well, so when you frame fills with rust flakes and corrosion, it can still drain.
