Hey guys, so Monday I cleaned the truck, and noticed I had a pretty good leak going on. So from what I can see it might be my front diff , could be cracked, JK saw when I hit that hole really hard, gonna take the skids off tonight and clean it off so I can get a really good look, I'll keep ya posted.

 

I still don't have the damn outlet. He should install it today or tomorrow but I'm not getting my hopes up.

I've never in my life welded so I'm not too sure you want me to weld on your sliders. If you know how to you are welcome to use mine whenever I get it powered.

 

Does it smell like gear oil or are you seeing a leak? Is your skid really messed up? I'd imagine that would have to be pretty screwed up before your diff gets it.

 

Well it could be my diff or a motor oil leaking but it coming pretty good, could be oil pan buy we will see when I get to the house

 

Hrm u would think it would hit the skid first.

 

What does it smell like? You don't think it could be dirty water from the mud dripping out do you?

 

I am no welder either.

 

I guess we'll play it by ear and see how fast I learn. If I'm not confident by the time you are ready you could get the guys over at Blazin' Performance to do it.

 

Heath, I had a leak going on so I took it to Toyota and it turns out it was my timing chain seal. John had the same problem and had it fixed and now there is no more leaking. FYI it takes a few days to repair and also the leaking seal is a TSB.

its pretty easy. Just grab a few pieces of scrap and start welding.

 

anyone else get that mud/sand crap in there pulleys? I did. Now i have tims supercharger sounding mod. I tried pouring water on the belt while it was running but i dont think i got down in there. Maybe i will hit it with the pressure washer.

 

OK I checked it out, I was just thinking of worst case scenario's, but I really thought it was my diff the way I hit. I have seen it before, I hit kinda sideways, and I thought my driveshaft put to much pressure on the housing and put a crack in it, (happened to a friend I know with a 04 4x4 taco). So I bought 4 cans of brake clean, buy one get one free woot! But anyway I cleaned as much as I could with the cans, and waited and waited. From what I can tell my diff is alright, oil pan is good, so I started looking higher and saw a few drips on my power steering pump, and thats where I lost the trail of fluid. So I'm gonna let it ride for now and just keep checking my fluids and see if I can't figure this out. Thanks Jesse for the tip about the timing chain seal, I will keep that in mind.

That's the plan when I get hooked up.

No problems with the pulleys here knock on wood. I would use the hose with an attachment before the pressure washer in the engine bay.

I wish I could help but I don't have any ideas other than what you plan on doing.

 

I think the area you recommended cleaned my truck off. It was pilled on my lca before but relatively clean after.

 

I thought the oil was my engine oil. Up on the bottom of the engine is were I seen dried gunked up oil. Although I cleaned everything up I didnt notice any new oil. I took it in just to be safe and thats when I found out it was my timing chain. Can you post up ics of the leak?
