    I hear you.
Our subdivision used to be quite pleasant to live in. Neighborly and everyone did their thing. Now, with a new HOA president, it's not so great.

I was really worried about this too. We had an older guy as president and he was pretty cool. The guy before him was apparently even more lax and screwed stuff up for people in the older part of the subdivision. Recently they elected a new board and actually hired a management company to oversee things to keep all the rules the same. So far it's ok, but it's only Spring lol

I'll post photos tomorrow. My back is killing me from laying under the truck for hours. We did two sets, mine, and my friends.

Six Mile is part of the Lake @ Guana WMA. The water is currently being drawn down to be able to lay seed. If it's not already two low, you won't be able to use that launch in the next two weeks. However, you can launch at the south end of the lake, there is a parking lot and so on. If you're scared of gators, I would recommend going elsewhere

Another great option is the bartram canoe trail that is deep in jullington creek (you can access from racetrack road). Beautiful scenery and right now there are a lot of turkeys walking the banks

Thanks Trey for the info. I'm not scared of alligators, but I do respect them and their habitat. As for the wife? I read to her what you wrote, and she said "Elsewhere it is!"

They won't hurt you, but they are starting to associate the kayak fisherman with free food (they try and take fish off the stringers attached to kayak). They just get a little close for comfort. I got this one from six mile

Can a gator flip a kayak or something? What would be the best way to fend them off if they went on the offensive? I want to get in the st johns in deland and kayak all the way to jax one day lol

I guess they technically could, but I'd venture to say that it's extremely unlikely. I'm no expert but in my experience I think they shy away pretty fast unless you're close to their pups or nest... They'll let you know really quick though (I promise). That would be an excellent adventure for sure!

Bring a tent. Lol. That's not a short distance.

I'd recommend a canoe so you can have a cooler and such. Wouldn't depend on fish for food. Too many variables. You'll be paddling against the tide every six hours.

    Make it a fun trip

We do a week in the glades (with an actual boat) and you cover a lot of ground. It's nice to be able to make a sandwich rather than hope you catch fish

Some day I'm gonna try a 3 or 4 day trip with just what I can carry in my back pack. Gotta wait For the right time of year.

Lol i planned on bringing food as a precaution, i figured the northern flow would be stronger than the tide.and i can strap a cooler onto my canoe i am pretty sure

I would love to go on a gator hunt sometime. A few months ago we had to call a trapper to get a gator out of the back pond. It was 7' long, and they pulled a second one out that was 6.5' long. We noticed them when the ducks on the back pond would sit on our back porch all day long and wouldn't get in the water at all. Now that they are gone we're seeing more wildlife in the back, ducks, cranes, and more frogs too.

If you are anywhere near jax and want to hunt, just apply for permits at the end of this month and if you get them, i have all the gear required and will happily bring you. I just love being out there.

I would like to, but can't do the 23rd/24th, wife has already made plans for that day and I need to be around the house.
