    I wouldn't worry about it. If you look on the road, you see a ton of older vehicles not even rusted... if you drive on the beach, just wash your truck well after.. I just moved from Hawaii, and it's hell on vehicles, here, it's like they are preserved...

    Hey Guys, I'm in St. Augustine. I have a 98 extended cab 4x4 I need some help with. It's got low compression in cylinder 1. I think its a blown head gasket. Other than that its in pretty good shape. Any thoughts on where I could get a motor or someone who wants a first gen that's in good shape but needs a little work?

    I’m considering it. Had it for 18 Years so I’m attached. But I can’t repair it myself and with a growing family I need something I can fit car seats in. If it’s a reasonable fix I’ll probably do that. But if not I may have to sell.

    Im sure you would be able to do it. Its probably pretty labor intensive.

    Its always the labor that get you on repairs. If you mechanically inclined - get a chiltons manual and a head gasket kit and go for it.
