jacobrippey's 1995 V6 Swapped Tacoma single cab build

Hello. This is the build thread of my 1995.5 single cab. I picked it up in January 2014, in bone-stock condition. Here is some info:

1995.5 Tacoma. Sx package. 4x4. 3.4 swapped 5 speed.

There are 3 things that always break on this thing: steering rack (I'm on #5), Door handles (inside and out...probably done 6-7), and speedometer cables (#3, poor plastic design). Other than that, the truck has been fairly reliable (knocks on wood).

First mod was a tool box, followed by a Bambi basher.

 

Took it mudding in Arizona. Realized I needed a locking diff.

 

Next was the deckplate mod. This is mostly done on 3.4l engines, but I made it happen on the 'ol 4 banger.

 

I then found some LED pods on Craigslist and installed them. Also, here are some wheeling pics in Colorado.

 

Next, I did a satashi grille mod. Also, I relocated the pods on some ditch light brackets. Ordered some cheap led work lights for the Bambi basher.

 

Found the original window sticker. That's cool. Also found that the day I was born (year and all) was printed on the speedometer cluster.

 

Installed a paranoid fab switch panel. Also found some newer 2003 Tacoma bucket seats.

 

I then threw on a cheap led 40" bar on slag factory mounts. The next few pics had my buddy's borrowed camper shell.

 

Steering rack broke. Took 3 tries to get it right. Dang power steering pump clogged, which caused many problems.

This is where things start getting fun. Picked up a soft top for the bed. This was on Craigslist (for a steal!). It's a canback brand. Although it isn't foldable, it does come with a decent cage underneath the canvas, which allows mounting of equipment and having a roof rack.

 

Mounted a led pod in the back for bed lights. I'm in love. Also scored some raptor lights for free from a buddy in my wheeling group. I liked how they turned out.

 

Next modification was a chassis unlimited front bumper. I totally love the look. Gave the Bambi basher to a friend for his Tacoma. I also did the turn signal mod, and wired the raptor lights as the running lights.

 

Next two mods were the land cruiser Toyota badge on the grille, and an used lc engineering header from Craigslist!

 

Scored some fj cruiser 17" steelies and 255/75/17 km1 mud terrains for cheap. I'm loving the look. Believe it or not, they didn't rub too badly (only under full lock). No spacers either.

 

Did an ammo box center console, where I also mounted my cb radio.

 

Lift time! Since I am a broke college student, I lifted the taco on a budget, without metal spacers or block bull crap. Old man emu 2881 springs, with 10mm poly spacers, and a wheelers off-road 1.5 aal outback. All on rough country n2.0 shocks. Makes the 32" tires look right. Also got a badlands 9k winch.
