So is 70-30 the road your talking about? If so that’s where Kelly butte is, you can hike to the top and there’s a fire watch tower. Never went to where they were shooting but heard someone set up a 500 yard and 1000 yard steel target but didn’t ever go lol

That fire watch tower is active and a awsome hike up when not buried in snow. I should have know when you said Kelly Butte, you were talking about that spot Careful up on the ridgeline, the Pacific Crest trail Runs through there if you didnt know.

 

Gotcha, I’ve lived close to greenwater my whole life so I have spent tons of time up there. I’ve never shot up that way because I knew the PCT was right there as well as Kelly butte being a high traffic hike, but I’ve been told by multiple people that they’ve shot long range in that area and I’ve been curious where they’re doing it at. I do all my shooting up FS 75, there’s a semi private pit up there that no one is ever at, and you can shoot about 180-200 yards

 

Seems to have fluctuated a bit. Interested if this is still happening tomorrow.

That was a fun day. Had a good time with you guys. A guy on a snowmobile stopped and said we weren't supposed to be on groomed roads. I haven't found anything about it online yet. We were wondering what he meant by groomed roads. We couldn't imagine grooming machines running all that maze of roads. And indigenous people are still hunting up there in their trucks. We saw a fresh bull elk head on the side of the road right near the bottom.

 

Agreed. Solid day. A few recoveries, some pew pew action and a small fire to wrap things up. Warmer temps made for slushy snow which didn’t help with traction. Now if we can just get @Flash_Adalwolf to leave the damn ditches alone...

 

Nice you got some better photos than I did with the camera with your angles lol. It was a great day getting in a bit of everything out there. Curious to here more about the restrictions if any at all @JDAM havent seen them either.
